MOD POST: New Moderator Application!

Okaaaaay, kids.

The time has come for ATB to take on a new mod. So, rather than do it through Tumblr like I did the last time, I decided that I would make an official post on the comm. and leave it up for a few days so I can see what kind of interest there is in the position. Please keep in mind that this is in addition to myself and Evan and that I won’t expect the new person to automatically know how to do everything or take over all of the moderating duties or anything. Also keep in mind that this is not a popularity contest. I’m going to choose the best person for the job, not the person that I like the most or who I’ve been friends with for the longest.

Duties:

• Making comments asking people to edit their posts to include warnings, LJ-cuts, etc.
• Writing mod posts when applicable if an issue comes up on the comm.
• Enforcing community rules regarding formatting, posting, links and all that good stuff.
• Editing tags on entries and deleting irrelevant tags in the tag management tab.
• Good communication with other moderators re: happenings on the comm.
• Familiarity with basic HTML for Livejournal - formatting, LJ-cuts, etc. (Please note that this is completely different from layout stuff/CSS so you don’t need to worry about that!)

The Application:

• Your name, LJ username & Tumblr url (if you have one and want to share it)
• How long you’ve been on LJ (previous fandoms if applicable)
• Why you want to become a mod on ATB
• Reasons you think a post should/would get a warning comment from a mod
• Reasons you would delete a post without a warning
• Reasons you would delete a post after giving the writer a warning
• Three things that authors should always write warnings for
• Best way to contact you
• Country/timezone/when you are most often online
• One thing you’d like to see happen on the comm. in the future (this can be a contest or changes to the layout, posting format, etc.)

Don’t send it to my Tumblr ask box because I don’t want anything to get eaten by the Tumbeasts or lost in my inbox over there. I will announce my choice on Thursday night before 8 p.m. EST, mostly because I am not going to be home on Friday or I’d do it then. And... I guess I’ll contact whoever I pick beforehand however they tell me to so we can confirm everything and I can do all that behind the scenes stuff.
