Boyfriend wasn't happy with his life and was in a rut, so he wants to be single. Threw out a list of how we weren't compatible, and though I was great we didn't have the same desires. This is true. He desired to spend 2 weeks with his mom without seeing me once, and that wasn't okay. Our original plans for Easter included my family and him, then changed when his mom came down and he didn't even bother to show up to say hello to my parents despite the fact that they were expecting him. My mother made him an Easter basket and baked his favorite pie, and yet he was a no show. So the discussion started after I got him and he decided that this is best.

This is the part where it gets juicy...

Today I texted him to see if I could get my things and talk to him. He agreed to. I texted him when I was a few minutes away telling him that and asked if he could meet me outside, which he also agreed to. He never came outside. So I knocked on the door and low and behold there's his mom... who then asks me what I'm doing there and tells me Mitch doesn't want to see me and that it was her texting me the whole time. She explained that she went through his phone while he was showering and decided to take it upon herself to respond to me. WHAT THE HELL. So I walked around his house for 10 minutes gathering my things in a clearly upset state while she followed me telling me that she knew he wasn't happy and I'm not right for her son. It took every ounce of niceness I have in me to not turn around and tell her to shut the fuck up.

He is 26. Why does she think it's okay to tell him how to live his life? Why does she think it's okay to go through his phone? This break up would not have happened if she wasn't here, I am certain of that.

I'm just glad I'm not part of that family. A boy who calls his mom every time we fight is not one for me, and a mom who can't just let her son be with the girl who he loves is also not a good future in law. The situation was extremely disrespectful and neither of them deserve any kindness from me. After almost a year a man should have the decency to at least allow the girl to pick up her things without his mother nagging her, and at least be there when she does.

I would never, ever do that to anyone.
