I do think PJ and Bobby make for a cute, solid couple, and I would hate to see Bobby hurt, but the show threw out a scenario in the first season of something that just caught me - with PJ and Brendo being best friends and attracted to one another and throwing around terms like all-or-nothing and some crazy actor chemistry - and then totally backed away from it to Bobby. So, yes, Bobby should definitely and happily go to law school and then PJ and Brendan should make out for the good of all of us.
I've heard that Betsy Thomas, the creator of My Boys, was against PJ/Brendo because something similar had happened to her with her own best (male) friend in college, and it was something they had moved on from. I think the guy Brendan is based off of might even have been a writer for the show along with her? So it might have been weird for her to move their fictional versions into a relationship. Either way, I don't think it was something she would have revisited, even if the show hadn't been cancelled.
