chewing problems

Hi,

I have a one year old corgi/australian shepherd mix, and he's usually a pretty well behaved dog. Recently though, he has started chewing on my table legs (one is totally destroyed now, and I love that table :( ) and the baseboards/wall corners. We're working on re-directing him to proper chew toys, but first of all he doesn't seem interested in ANY of them! We've tried soft toys, because he likes to lick my clothes (we cuddle with the toys so they smell like us), we've tried different plastic or rubber type toys (even some that are flavoured), rope toys, and bones. He doesn't really like rawhide stuff, though he will eat like little munchie sticks or bone shaped treats, but those are gone pretty fast. The one thing that he really likes are these smoked beef bones from Publix, but they make him fart a TON, really terribly! Second of all, he is doing the bad chewing while I'm asleep (my husband gets up early for work and takes the dog out and then we let him have run of the house since he's usually so well behaved) so its hard to catch him in the act to teach him that those are not good toys for him.

We got a spray to put on the things he's chewing to keep him away, but obviously that's only a temporary measure while we work on training, but I seem to be stuck. I know he could use a little bit more exercise, but we really try to make sure to get out often with him. Any tips to finding proper things to chew on that he might like, to save what's left of my table?
