Sooooo much fun! I giggled over your first scene: I always love it when you describe House the Aesthete with a Discerning Palate, and imagine him taking genuine pleasure in preparing a meal to woo his lady love. But, oops, even he can forget to turn off the stove...and the image of them refocussing after having sex to the accompaniment of the smell of the burning polenta: so funny.
And yet- wow, what on EARTH was he thinking????? It's kind of amazing that he could, for one moment, have thought that it was okay to prank Cuddy with a baby shower...except that he can indeed be remarkably oblivious to this sort of thing.
But what I liked best was the way that Cuddy responded to her conversation with Wilson: she is hurt, she is angry...but she doesn't want House to hurt himself any more than he already has, and so she makes up her mind to pretend to forgive him, so that they can at least reach a truce (and it probably helps that she decides to prank him in return - to reduce herself to his level). And, luckily we are in the world of ATD, her good action nets a wonderful return!
