BUT going back to the beginning of this chapter: I laughed heartily at the stratagems that he resorted to in order to find out what had gone wrong. Such ingenuity (...could only have come thanks to the pen of ATD; faced with a similar challenge, the paid scriptwriters would have come up with something much less amusing).
And it was a relief to see him rushing to the hospital to watch the surgery and hold her hand, rather than panicking and resorting to Vicodin to steel his nerves. But our Poor Boy gets kicked out - snif!
The scene with Chip is SIDE-SPLITTING - 'specially the remark about Arlene enjoying being a mini-celebrity - and House's indignation at not getting his full 30 minutes is soooo much fun.
And then - wow! - to see that Wilson is sort of convinced, and now we DON'T know who had the restraining order issued. We fear, desperately, that it was Cuddy, and hope that it was Arlene. Could she have forgotten??? It's very, very, VERY stressful....even despite your previous 170+fics ;-)
