And My Secrets Become Your Truth
A Druella&Andromeda Black Fanmix for Crystal
Prologue.
The night of Andromeda's birth is dark and stormy; mother and child nearly both lose their lives, but survive as though through a miracle. Druella, before losing consciousness, makes a vow that she will never leave her little princess behind, that she will always love her, always protect her, and she will keep that vow under any circumstances. Her daughter is her miracle, and she would do anything for her, anything at all.
Goldberg Variations: Aria (J.S. Bach)Pour ma petite princesse.
Childhood.
Druella loves her daughters with all her heart, but after suffering horrible tragedies in her life, the fear that she could lose them has become nearly unbearable. It is hard for her to show them the true affection, and it is particularly hard for Andromeda to read the signs behind her Maman's detached, nearly cold demeanour. When they were young children, however, Druella would sit by their bedside for hours and sing quiet lullabies for her beautiful little girls until they had fallen into a peaceful sleep.
Sleepsong (Secret Garden)May you sail far to the far fields of fortune
With diamonds and pearls at your head and your feet
And may you need never to banish misfortune
May you find kindness in all that you meet
Moonlight Sonata: 1st Movement (Ludwig van Beethoven)Druella's love
Stay Awake (Julie Andrews)Stay awake, don't rest your head
Don't lie down upon your bed
While the moon drifts in the skies
Stay awake, don't close your eyes
Drifting Away.
As she grows older, Andromeda detaches herself more and more from her parents, and even her beloved little sister. She falls into a deep identity crisis, not knowing where she belongs as she refuses to be a part of the old-fashioned Pureblood society. And so Andy pulls away, moving into a little flat in the middle of Muggle London, far away from magic and her family, as she values her freedom above anything else and firmly believes that they will never accept her true self.
Reflection (Lea Salonga)Somehow I cannot hide, who I am, though I've tried
When will my reflection show who I am inside?
What If (Emilie Autumn)And you close your eyes when I say I'm breaking free
And put your hands over both your ears
Because you cannot stand to believe I'm not
The perfect girl you thought
I Belong To Me (Pia Douwes)I'm growing, I'm learning,
To be even more myself,
I know it's not easy to be free,
But I belong to me
Long & Lost (Florence + the Machine)Is it too late to come on home?
Are all those bridges now old stone?
Is it too late to come on home?
Can the city forgive? I hear its sad song
Depression.
With the passing of time and both her daughters gone, Druella is scarcely capable of suppressing her depression any longer. The shadows circle her, and at times not even her beloved husband Cygnus is capable of comforting her. In the belief that she is worthless, she is willing to end it all... But her attempt fails, and when Andromeda - who feels as though she betrayed her parents with her move - comes to visit her parents at Cygnus' request, everything changes.
Numb (Sia)It has to end
Living in your head
Without anything to numb you
Living on the edge
Without anything to numb you
Take The Rain Away (Rebecca Lavelle)Don't want to live in darkness
Oh, let me be transformed
And let me find redemption
Oh please let there be peace
Weep You No More (Roger Quilter)Weep you no more, sad fountains;
What need you flow so fast?
Look how the snowy mountains
Heav'n's sun doth gently waste.
Reconciliation.
Druella gives in. All those years she succeeded at keeping the shadows of her past a secret only known to herself and her husband, but now she reveals everything to her daughter Andromeda, who nearly breaks beneath the burden. But their relationship changes; Andy abandons her flat and moves back to her childhood home to help her father care for Druella in her darkest moments. Only with the love of her family, she is saved, and her former complicated relationship to her princess changes entirely. They begin to trust each other, to talk to each other, and Druella begins to reveal her true self to her daughter.
Comptine D'Un Autre Été (Yann Tiersen)"Andy."
Maybe (Next To Normal)Maybe I'm tired of the game
Of coming up short of the rules of the shame
And maybe you feel that way too
I see me in you
Don't You Dare (Alexz Johnson)I could say that I don't care
But the truth is I'd follow you anywhere
I've been waiting such a long, long time
Don't you dare change your mind
Arms (Christina Perri)I never thought that you would be the one to hold my heart
But you came around and you knocked me off the ground from the start
Love.
The weeks pass and Druella slowly recovers from her depressive spell. Andromeda will never leave her side as they are now inseparable, sharing a most special and sweet mother and daughter bond. They will always be there for another, will always tell each other everything, and Andromeda scarcely has memory of her time alone in London. It all feels like a dream to her, like a time long past, as leaving her parents is unimaginable to her. They need her, and she needs them.
The Promise (Michael Nyman)They would tell each other everything.
More Than You'll Ever Know (Natalie Cole)Take my hand
We'll walk awhile, we'll talk awhile
Feel my love
Always there beside you
Schindler's List Theme (John Williams)Confidantes.
Epilogue.
Andromeda has finally found her place within the family. When remembering her foolish thoughts of just a few months past she laughs, shakes her head and refuses to believe that this has been her. How could she ever have doubted her mother's love, how could she ever have doubted her parents' affection? Finally, she is happy, and Druella, too, slowly steps back into the light, leaving the shadows behind at least for the moment. When mother and daughter look at each other, there is nothing but trust, nothing but pure, unconditional love within their eyes.
Love In The Eyes (Ramin Djawadi)Their bond would only grow stronger.
