He was a little nervous for today was the day he would meet his new companion. His mother had told their young all about the bond they would share with their companion, about how rewarding it was to have such a bond, how it was a love without comparison. He was still inexperienced in flying, the landing at the place where the companions lived was a bit rougher than he would have liked, but then he saw all those faces of those tiny creatures, one of whom would be at his side for the rest of his life and all clumsiness and nervousness was forgotten. One of the tiny ones came up to him, holding an apple and smiling and he knew the moment he looked into that little face and into this little creature’s soul that was full of love, that his mother had been right. He had found the one and he knew that they would be together forever.

It was the day of great fruits, the day all the big furless pale heads had always come and brought lots and lots of fruit to the place where Momo had lived with his family, before. Before everyone he loved died. Now everything was different, dark. He knew that they wouldn’t come. They hadn’t come for the last three times. Momo knew how to get food, he knew how to survive on his own, but he always returned here for the day of great fruits, never giving up hope that maybe this time would be different. Maybe this time someone would come.

Rating: G
Word count: 165
Momo had waited for a long time for anyone to come to the place where the furless pale heads once lived. He had been alone since his family died. He was used to it, but he didn’t particularly like it. He longed for friends, for companionship. That was why he still came here, even when it seemed unlikely that anyone would come after all this time. He always hoped that this time it would be different. And then the day came where it was. At first he only heard sounds and he hid because some of the furless creatures were violent and would hunt him. But what he saw from his hiding place made him hope that these were not violent, that they were part of those who had treated his family well. So he let them see him and when they chased each other around in a fun game, he knew these were what he had been looking for. He was no longer alone.
