Day 002

Sep 23, 2011 23:56

Day breaks with the chiming of the clock. The light returns with a suddenness that isn’t quite like dawn, but the light is welcome. The construction noise fades away, and for a moment, some standing close to the stairs or any person in the attic might hear the sound of a baby crying, but it also quickly fades.

With the return of the light the monsters vanish from the house like they never were. You are left the light of day to lick your wounds and gather yourselves for whenever they next appear.

The door at the top of the stairs unlocks, allowing those who died during the night to make their way down stairs and for others to make their ways into the newly opened areas. There is much to be explored in the dubious
safety of the day.

For those who died during the night; you woke in the attic in the darkness surrounded by passive shadows. These rooms that for the entire night have been inaccessible to you are now open to be explored. See the setting page for new rooms. Anyone wishing to claim a bedroom as their own please comment to the setting page.

The day also brings the return of the rats, just as passive as they were before. They appear wherever the house guests linger. The girl is, for the moment, not in evidence. For the sensitive, the day also brings a break in the chill. The house feels comfortable for the first time since they have arrived.

There are five notes to be found in the new areas, each might hold further clue to the events that have occurred during the night.

1. "Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we must die. Can you taste it in the air around you?" Tucked inside a violin case in the Perfume Bedroom.
2. “It’s everywhere.” In the Glass Bathroom, in plain sight.
3. "It's so dark. Why don't they come back? It all gets fixed, every time. Why now? Why this?” In the sewing room, caught under the needle.
4. “Sometimes I hear them in the walls. Can you hear them? I don’t want them watching me anymore. I don’t want to hear them, just let me go. I don’t want-” The note ends abruptly in a red slash of crayon, it’s sitting on the floor in the Observatory
5. “X Marks the Spot. But where is the spot? Do we have a map? Why-what are they? What do they want? Why won’t they go away?” Trophy Room
