The pacing of this piece is just marvelous. You have conveyed such a sense of Giles' "apartness", if you will. The subtlety and precision of your language gives tremendous power to this characterization. I had to bail on following your smut links, because that kink particularly squicks me, so I very much enjoyed discovering what a fine writer you are in a different genre, so to speak. That was absolutly wonderful. You're look into Giles' life captured him perfectly as well as giving him bacground that worked well with the cannon.
I loved the bits of subtext you included. Giles constantly praying for Buffy, was so sweet and seemed like something Giles would absolutly do gor her.
