The image of her skating with the water sprites, I could see it so clearly. I put them to the music of the Nutcracker, like the scene in Fantsia.

I'm glad Dawn woke up to see it and have the snowball fight. The kiss was better for waiting, just a little. And that description. Whoa!

'perfection came seasoned with heaven and honey and the smoky after taste of tea …' Yes, just the way Giles would kiss.

the music of the Nutcracker

That would certainly fit the mood and the season. :-)

Of course I had to give Dawn her moment in the snow - it would have been cruel not to after the conversation at the beginning. (It was her who put the idea in Giles' head, after all ...)

As usual, this was absolutely lovely, and you didn't miss a single beat. Can I have one of your Giles? That's my heart's desire! But, honestly, one of the sweetest (without being overly syrupy) and most charming fics I've read in forever. Such a wonderful way to play out his new found powers. And I think your description of their first kiss was absolutely perfect. My favorite of any that I've ever read.

Hmm. I'm not sure they're entirely mine to give away. But I can probably lend you one if you like. *g*

I'm glad I managed to hit 'sweet but not syrupy.' Adding a 'spoonful of sugar' to the BTVS universe is an intersting challenge to say the least!

But then, this is true fairy magic. It has a hidden edge under all the glamour and needs a firm and practical hand to keep it under control. Which is why Mary left it to her grandson of course. :-)

I finally got around to reading this. Wow! This is wonderful.

I think we should do a mini B/G ficathon about first kisses.

One nitpick, though. It's Christmas Eve, and Buffy says Dawn has school the next day.

Thank you for the wow. *g* And yes, a 'first kiss' ficathon sounds like a superb idea!

It's Christmas Eve, and Buffy says Dawn has school the next day.

Oops! It's actually the night before Christmas Eve (Otherwise that fist kiss would happen on Christmas morning, as it's past midnight ...) but really, that's no excuse!

Perhaps Buffy should just say 'you have stuff to do tomorrow,' implying present wrapping and last minute shopping and stuff ...

On the other hand, Buffy could just be zoning out and in total confusion about when and where, because Giles has just come that close to kissing her properly. *g*

Mmm. I shall consider and amend ... Thank you!

Yes. That would work. Buffy is just so used to telling Dawn things like that. She would say it without thinking.

And we should see what kind of interest there is for a mini ficathon. Or we could post prompts like a list of locations, occasions, holidays, emotions, etc. I don't know how it would work. If we do it on allthejellies, we should ask pixelleate first.

Well, I decided to amend, because it saves having to add an explanation for the attentive reader. *g*

Also, I think Dawn would contine to protest if Buffy slipped up like that.

I've never organised a ficathon before, so I have no idea how to go about it. But yes, if we want it here, we should ask first. Or possibly ask over in tweedandtea since that would open up the possible 'firsts' for folk to write about ...

Somewhere in my frantically busy 2005 I missed this, and my gracious, it's lovely. Just makes me hug myself with delight!
