High in a tower
A maiden sits alone
Looking out
At the sad world below
Its sorrows reflected
In her pale face
Her hand reaches out
And grasps only space
She holds the keys
But she can’t reach the lock
The soft breeze on her face
Serves only to mock
As it whispers of a world
Beyond her finger tips
That she can only watch
Past her tower it slips
Alone, looking down
The madness passes her by
She stares at the sun
And starts to cry
Her tears fall soft
On the flowers below
Soaking their roots
And the flowers grow
The people hurry past
But they see the flowers bloom
If only for a moment
Light shines through their gloom
The years slowly pass
The maiden turns gray
Death’s angel comes at last
To take her away
No one will miss her
No one knew she was there
How she watched them each day
And grasped at the air
Yet a smile graced her lips
As death kissed her eyes
Knowing her life was complete
She said earthly good-byes
For all her invisible days
Spent alone in a tower
She’d made people happier
She’d watered a flower.
I'm leaving. When I come back in 2 weeks I'll be 16 already. Wow. It feels like a long time. I wanted to leave you all something meaningful to think about while I'm gone, but that's the best I've got for now. Tell me if you like it. And have fun. I mean that, these last few days of summer are precious and I want everyone to enjoy them. And be happy. I love you all.
xoxo
