DWTS and Mock Congress- two totally unrelated things

Why isn't Shannon Elizabeth going home yet? I mean, Derek is right that it's unfair to give 9s and 10s to people who are making technical errors in their dancing, but Shannon does not do hip action, and didn't deserve a good score on her rumba, no matter how much the two of them enjoy making out with each other. But I want Shannon to leave, and I'm annoyed that she gets to stay another week. I actually voted last night, just to give points to other people, because I want Shannon to leave, and I don't think Kristi deserved a perfect score.

My government classes are doing a Mock Congress simulation. Last week they wrote bills, this week they're working in committees, and next week they'll be debating their bills. Yesterday a kid handed in a bill that was literally a photocopy of someone else's bill (the kid who sits next to him) with his name on the top. I was so angry I could barely see straight. But this morning, I talked to him about it, and he acknowledged that it was a stupid thing to do, and he's going to try and write his own bill now. At least, that's what he says. He has overall failed to follow through on just about everything, so I doubt he'll really do it, but I'll give him a chance.

The thing I really enjoyed today, though, was that some of these bills are really bad. Not the ideas, but how poorly they're written. One of the committees brought me a particularly bad bill that they had been working with, and said, "Can we make him redo this? Because it doesn't even make sense." I told them no, what they could do was either recommend it not pass, pigeonhole it, or fix it. I'm just so glad that they get to see what kind of really sucky quality work I have to deal with sometimes, and especially that they recognize that it's just not good enough. I just want to say now, "See? I'm not being a bitch! I'm not picking on you guys! This is what kind of stuff people hand in all the time, and it's driving me crazy."
