like kids, they run until the sun does fall
outstretched upon their beds to rest and dream
vendettas come to visit them and call
eventually we all must turn and heed
it isn't giving in or giving up
some things were simply never meant to last
just hold your arms outstretched to stop the flood
unclench your stubborn fists and let it pass
surrender while can you can before they win,
to clutch at dignity in things, untouched
ameliorate the momentary whim
life's all about those stinging, painful thoughts
incessant time, you've searched yet found no peace,
enough will never be enough to please
