contrast and compare

Nov 10, 2009 23:51

beneath the shade of willow leaves
not far off from the water's edge
there rests a patch of river rocks
set in place by living hands
they mark the place i lay my faith
the place where i put hope to rest
those rocks alone, i think they know
and see the bits of truth in me...
selected from the myriad
chosen for their color and form
to separate the plain from sacred
bestow a title to a piece of earth

well how fragile is life?
and what could cripple in this way?
enough to question, hesitate
consult the faithful, callous scale
what is freedom? do you know?
when redemption is an altar call
if some profess love never fails
well then i guess i don't know love
some must draw the 2 and 7
some must carry this world's charge,
learn every fleeting moment of peace
is just a stroll in the prison yard
