another job update
Well, things have been getting better on the job front. I have been making strides and have gotten considerably better in the past few weeks. Still kinda looking around for something possibly better paying or a second job for later this year when my rent increases $75. Case in point, I may be moving to another complex to get in another "special" and hopefully within the next year or so get a good enough raise so I don't have to keep apartment hopping. Moving costs could get expensive.
But in order to improve my chances of advancing within Vertis, I am planning on taking a couple day long classes at University of Missouri's at St. Louis campus in West County. They offer day long computer classes. I plan on taking an Intro and Intermediate Excel class as well as a Excel Formula and Functions class. I could most likely go straight to the Intermediate class but I haven't used Excel in a couple years so I figure it would be best to start off in the Intro class. Heck, my company will be picking up the bill anyways. I may very well also take classes in Adobe and Quark X Press which are used a lot within Vertis....in other departments than mine, but maybe if something would open up in them departments the classes may help me transfer. By taking the Excel classes that may give me a heads up in getting a job as an analyst, if other analyst positions open up, within my department. Right now, there's about 3 guys with more seniority than me that would probably have first chance at an analyst position if one would open up. But I currently have quite a bit of free time so the classes could only help, right.
Either way, I am still really wanting a position that works during the day. Daytime hours are good.
