Gracious, I've been lazy. It's just that whenever I get a chance to get into LJ, it's way more entertaining to read what every one else has to say rather than write (and not well) about me, but I don't want to be a total lurker so here is a very overdue entry. . .
Well, I did take the job with my old company so I am once again employed and really, I have a sweet deal. I only work 32 hours a week (every Friday off!) for 80% of my old salary (which was generous so 80% is certainly enough to live on and if I didn't spend money like a drunken sailor, I could even save quite a bit). The project I'm working on is writing process and then training the staff in it for a quasi-governmental agency. I was told it was a verrry slow-paced, low-stress job which I needed and it has been mostly that, but the client has started to get snippy lately so we'll see. Of course, as soon as I went back to work, other offers started coming from all directions. I'm meeting with an old client on Monday to see if I want to go work for them either on a one-time consulting gig or full-time. I love the team I'm working with right now, so I probably won't, but I'll check it out.
My IPOD and ITunes won't talk to each other any more which is very upsetting. Even more upsetting was researching the problem and reading what all the irate IPOD owners in the forums had to say. Whew, some venom there. Seems you have to pay Apple $255 to get them to service the damn thing. After some consideration and the fact I want video, I decided to invest in an Archos DVR instead which I've had a week now and absolutely adore. I watch movies on the commuter bus now!! This device is head and shoulders and torso and whatever other body part you want to name above IPOD. I can't believe it's not a household name. If I can only figure out how to convert my MPEG4 stuff off of ITunes - I can get the m4a files, but not my newer stuff so all my Magic Numbers, The 88, James Blunt, Magnetic Fields, etc. isn't working - waaah. But I will persevere. My other dilemma is whether to reset the IPOD and possibly lose all my songs with no way to put them back on or possibly cure the problem and have a working IPOD again. I'm vacillating around on that one.
Have really been disappointed in my movie-going experiences lately - Chronicles, The Producers, and Hoodwinked. I actually fell asleep during Hoodwinked - of course, that might have been the mojito, but really, the movie was boring, too. On the other hand, my movie buying experiences have been pretty good. Loved, loved, loved Mad Hot Ballroom. I'm going to marry Wilson when he gets a little older, like 20 years older. Not wanting to be all Mary Kay about it.
Worked out at Curves with a friend today and enjoyed it quite a bit. I like that you only stay on each machine for a short time and you keep moving along. I always hated people hanging around waiting for me to get off a piece of equipment at my old gym. I only did two circuits, but I'm definitely feeling them in my arms and shoulders. I've got a week's free trial, but I'll probably join - especially since I have a friend going.
I've really been concentrating on knitting lately. I've actually taught myself the continental method - I think. You can't always tell from the pictures. Maybe I've invented a whole new way! Regardless, if I use the new method, my stitches are much tighter which they so badly need to be. If I knit my old, wrong way, it's very loose and stretchy even if I use smaller needles so it's hard to knit anything but non-size restricted stuff like dish clothes and scarves. I would eventually like to knit something else.
I know I'm not necessarily with the majority here, but I have loved Veronica Mars since it came back from hiatus. To borrow a phrase from SWMBO, I squish it. I squish it and hug it and love it greatly. I've read a lot of the forums and agree with some of the points, but I don't care. Overall, I think it's been wonderful. I'm glad Wallace is back, I'm glad Duncan left (and really, they couldn't have wrapped his story line up any better), I'm happy to see Weevil and Logan working together (snark, snark), and Keith - scamming Inga, what a hoot. Wednesday has become the TV highpoint of my week - VM and then, Project Runway. Go Daniel - I wouldn't wear any of his clothes even if I were skinny, but I love him. I would wear Andrae's clothes if I were skinny - I think he's done some gorgeous dresses. Well, except for the topiary dress. That was kind of ugly, but hey, he had a concept there. It was better than Nick's.
Well, enough trivia. Now on to some thoughts on spirituality and the current political climate. . .oh, no, unfortunately I have run out of time. Maybe next entry.
