Instead of Working

I did it again. I was playing my IPOD really loud with the screen door open and this time it was Martha Wainwright singing B.M.F.A.(bloody mother fucking asshole) at the top of her lungs. My neighbors now know for a fact that I am a dirty old woman. So glad that's been settled.

I'm trying to figure out how to set up an email for my job search. I don't want to use my Yahoo account - well, because Yahoo. Yahoo does have other email accounts - I can pay for something called a personal account, but I think it would get setup as myname@myname.com or something like that which is almost as bad as Yahoo. I need to think on this a little - also, more excuse to not actually be looking very hard. I'm afraid I'll find out how few jobs there are in my field and have a full-blown panic attack.

OK, this is me walking to the mailbox yesterday, diva dog on her leash, la, la, la, all innocence and light-heartedness, la, la, la - and I find a birthday card from the ex-boyfriend in the mail. Instant knot of anxiety in the pit of my stomach. And what a weird card - like something a granny would send a little girl. He wrote this really strange message, too, all about how he's doing FANTASTIC and how he wants me to give my nieces and the diva dog a kiss for him and keep a big hug for myself. Very girly - well, he was always more the girl than me - emotionally speaking, of course. At the very end, as sort of a postscript he adds he's always up for having a travel partner. WTF!! This is strangeness of a what-in-the-hell sort. Will contemplate what to do, if anything, along with email quandary.

Have been having so much fun with my new cookbook, The American Test Kitchen's Family Cookbook, that I splurged on with a little bit of my birthday money from Mom. I don't watch the Food Network, but I think it's based on a show. I love that it's in a binder so it will lay really flat and you can take a page to the grocery store with you. It's sort of a basic cookbook which I needed - my current basic cookbook is an old Fannie Farmer which is getting a little out of date. This cookbook has lots of color pictures and helpful tips, etc. So far I've made Banana Bread and Chicken Piccata and both were great. I think today Pumpkin Bread.

Yay!! tonight is Gilmore Girls and Jess is back and Logan gets in a snit. Woohoo, can't wait. Funny how I hate the Logan on GG, yet love Logan on VM with a deep, girly passion.
