I wish that subject line were about my sex life, but it refers to my erratic posting habits, as usual. It's been way too long since I last posted and so much has happened since then. For one, about 5 days after I wrote the last entry, I told my boss, the rat bastard, I was quitting my job! Yes, on October 25, I joined the ranks of the great unwashed unemployed. I haven't decided if it was the smartest thing I ever did or the stupidest - only time will tell. I should be feeling way more scared about not finding another job - I've always heard it's easier to find a job when you still have one - but I couldn't even find time to go on an interview. And neither of the prospects I had when I quit have panned out, but I'm still sort of in a daze about the whole thing. I'm sure panic will ensue shortly.
I have all sorts of good intentions about working around the house and starting to exercise more, etc. while I'm not employed, but I haven't really kicked those into gear. Hell, I couldn't even find the energy to write in this journal, at first, but I'm finally getting a little more pep and interest in getting things done so maybe these entries will be more frequent (I always say that, don't I.)
I have several great things to look forward to, however. For one, my brother and wife are taking me to a performance of Much Ado About Nothing at the Folger Theater the day before Thanksgiving for my birthday. This will be the third time I've seen this particular play - and for a weird little piece of trivia, the first time I saw it was in Stratford-on-Avon and Alex Kingston played Cleo and tonight I was watching Without a Trace which guest starred Alex Kingston (who was playing a real bitch, by the way). This time the play will be in modern dress so I'm interested in seeing the effect. Earlier the same day, we have tickets to go see the new panda cub, Tai Shan (sp?) at the National Zoo. Woo hoo.
The other great thing is, of course, we're going to see the new Harry Potter at the Uptown the day it opens. As usual, we're getting the kids out of school a little early to catch the 3:15 matinee. Squee! I'm really excited about seeing this one - the trailers make it look amazing.
Otherwise, I'm really into the new season of Veronica Mars. I bought the first season DVDs the minute they came out and have now hooked my nieces and the Sister-in-Law. I think the girls have watched every episode at least twice, if not more. I can't wait for her and Logan to get back together somehow - even if it's just to solve a case or something. The Duncan thing is b-o-r-i-n-g. I'm trying to watch Smallville, but sigh, the only good parts are James. I think he looks fantastic - he makes all those other guys on the show look weirdly bloated and de-haired - all those shiny, pneumatic chests look as natural as the over-inflated breasts on Lois. I thought Aquaman looked like an advertisement for steroids, for goodness sake. Totally cheesy.
I think I'll off to bed and read a good book - right now I'm reading A Sundial in a Grave, 1610, which is simply fantastic. History with a little S/M action and a samaurai! Just finished Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife which is what happens to Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy after the wedding - let me just say it isn't sitting around sipping tea. Hot!
