Also, luck had nothing to do with the blocked punt or the kickoff fumble. An interview with Mack Brown on Orangebloods.com told us that coach Akina (special teams coach) asked Mack just before the punt if he could have his team block it, b/c he had set it up to where Michael Griffin (the safety who blocked the punt) would come free on the side and he pretty much told mack it was a sure thing. Mack then said "let me think about it" and they did it. And it worked. That's not luck buddy, that's the kind of stuff that wins you games.
Part D)
This part is about USC, b/c i'm tired of talking about A&M.
Do I have to recount for you the number of times SC has struggled against lesser opponents this season? Ok, here you go...
USC's 3'rd game of the year they waited untill the second half b/4 they started playing against Oregon. Oregon is not good, despite their record and ranking.
Their 4'th game, they were down 21-3 at halftime against Arizona State. Again, an unranked opponent they should have not let get in the game at all. They won 38-28 and That was with AZ St. throwing not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, but 5, yes FIVE interceptions.
Their 5'th game, at home against Arizona, a considerably worse team than even AZ St., USC let Arizona stay within a touchdown up untill midway through the 4'th quarter. That's kinda pathetic really.
Their 6'th game, against Notre Dame, an illegal push by Reggie Bush won the game for USC despite Notre Dame having an almost 2-1 advantage in time of possesion. Had Notre Dame only played prevent defense on SC's last drive insteading of playing man-to-man and getting burned by Leinart to Jarrett, there would never have been an opportunity for Bush to push Matt into the endzone.
And their most recent nailbiter, against a decent and probably somewhat overlooked Fresno State team, USC would have without a doubt lost the game had Reggie Bush not turned in a 500 all purpose yard performance. Fresno actually had the lead with just over 6 minutes left in the game b/4 LenDale White had a 1 yard TD run to put SC over the top. Yup, that one was way closer than it was supposed to be too.
Let me also point out that USC's defense is ranked 70th in the nation. Ut's is ranked 6'th. Ut's scoring offense is 1'st in the nation, USC's is second. SC has not played ANYONE this year that is on the same level as Texas, and they've very nearly lost multiple games this year. If Texas goes into the Big 12 championship with the same focus and drive they have had for the very large majority of this season, it won't be a close game, and if they carry that focus into the Rose Bowl (you can bet they will), I think that most people will be surprised when Texas beats them by more than 2 touchdowns.
Now, let's see. UT had a game winning drive against then #5 Ohio State AT Ohio St. AT night (Ohio St. was previously undefeated all time at home at night) There's one close game.
They let Oklahoma state jump all over them b/4 waking up very much USC-like in the second half and scoring 5 consecutive TD's to smack them in the mouth pretty good.
Then they sucked it up pretty good against A&M, but still won. And no Kevin, I never once doubted that we would win the game, and that is not a lie. Oh by the way, have fun waiting untill next season to see the Aggies play again, as they failed to make a bowl bid after a 5-6 season. Cough....thanks for the post Kevo

doesnt bother me... id never cheer for the longhorns anyway ive already decided i dont want to go to UT and im not that big a fan of austin in general.
a) of course mcgee didnt pass all that much, as hes a freshman quarterback with almost no experience and is an inaccurate passer (int. early in the game, high passes etc). youd think whether or not they prepared for the option one of the top defenses in the nation could recognize thats what A&M was doing and change the plan a little bit. instead they got pretty much raped every time mcgee ran the ball. sure quarterbacks are critiqued more on passing, but if it werent for vince youngs athletic ability to run the ball when needed, he wouldnt be as dangerous as he is. hes not necesairilly the best passer of the lot, but he has some dang good recievers (ive seen him pass into like triple coverage and the ball was up for grabs and somehow some way the reciever comes up with the ball). but its not good enough that the only thing is they werent prepared for mcgee. it is still possible that with reggie they could have discovered UTs weakness (whether or not it was due to them being unprepared or whatever) and reggie could have capitalized on that, as well as being an efficient passer. i think having reggie in the mix would have made a positive difference for A&M and you cant deny that texas would have lost at least 2-3 games this season if vince young was injured and for some reason couldnt start. vince young may not have had his best game, but you still have to give the A&M defense credit for performing how they did. they sacked him, forced fumbles, and stopped vince almost every time he tried to scramble.
b) heh well thats good vince and reggie are friends. that be sad if they hated each other but whatever. but i dont think it was simply "texas played crappy" but i think A&M really surprised people with how well they played too. a lot of it probably had to do with texas' normal offensive plan not going too hot and they got frustrated. but texas could have played that way against say...baylor (who according to you was supposed to give UT a much better game) and still won by a nice margin. sure they wouldnt have shut out baylor but it still would have been bad. at least a 3 TD lead. of course A&M made mistakes and i blame that for the reason they lost (some of which were mcgees fault but thats expected). im sure you were extremely thankful for some of those penalties too (as well as the kickoff fumble). i'll be watching the big XII game...and rooting for colorado as much as i rooted for A&M :). but 2005 is odd and the north team has always won the big XII on odd years so we'll see. theres been some big XII game upsets.
C) i'll give you that the punt block was good going on UT, but the kickoff fumble was purely luck for UT. how often is it that you just score and the next play you get the ball back deep in the other teams territory? people dont usually drop a kickoff heh. if that never happend that could have meant one less texas score, and one more A&M score which would have swung the score around enough to make texas lose (i forgot if they got a TD or just a field goal from that...or maybe that was their missed field goal ahh i cant remember).
D) ehhh we'll see. you cant judge how one team will play against another based on how they play other teams. for example TCU beat oklahoma, who got beat by SMU, who lost monumentally to A&M, who in turn lost to oklahoma. likewise OSU got beat by A&M, A&M got beat by tech, but OSU still beat tech. each week is a new week with a clean slate. theres no telling how USC has analyzed texas and if they have a way to stop them (which as proved by A&M there is a way to beat texas). that is...if texas breaks the big XII curse (north teams on odd years south teams on even years).

The great thing about college football is that you never know what's gonna happen.
But don't count on the north team odd year charm working ;) not this year.
I miss you.

part of my newfound college football love probably has to do w/ OCD mania...which i think i have to do a report on for psychology tomorrow heh.
ps the aggie marching band owns. for the record, they dont do the same thing every week. i guess the "format" is the same, but they change the patterns all the time and its very pleasing to the birds-eye viewer. plus their songs are more patriotic sounding and for some reason i like that kind of stuff haha. it sounds like music from old school epic war movies.
but i'll give it to texas for the fight song. its dang catchy. esp the second half after they kick the extra point. oooo gets me every time.
i miss you too bradley james...cant wait till christmas. but till then, college algebra with PROFESSOR BRADLEY will have to do :).
