a night air weightless as a timid child's breath;
undetectable as rain through a heavy backdoor screen.
peaceably vacant, but perturbingly still.
heat like waves of steam spiraling all the way from the kitchen
to
the
bedroom.
fierce like summer, but dark like november:
a mild empathenogen; an in-elegant time to be alone.
strangers' voices are mere sounds, could be animals for all it matters
to a mild mind enraptured in reverie ...
or to a torrential mind encased sideways
in complacency ...
but a gust of wind blows
bringing words, and soon enough,
