It was all Kame's fault. That's what Junno told himself as he analyzed exactly how they had come to this. It was Kame who wanted to go to the cafe. It was Kame who ate brownie after brownie even after Junno told him he should take it easy. And it was Kame who decided to search through Junno's wardrobe, finding that god-awful schoolgirl costume they had to wear back in their junior days. Really he wanted to burn it, but that took too much thought as to how to do so and not start a fire in his apartment. So he decided just to stuff the outfit as far
back in his closet as possible.
He must have shoved it so far back that it got stuck with his other clothes. Clothes he happened to bring with them on the trip. When he unpacked his suitcase and found the skirt poking out from under his jeans, he resolved to burn the damn thing the minute they returned to Japan.
Because currently they were on vacation in Amsterdam. Well, sort of. It was actually part of Cartoon KAT-TUN in which they split into pairs, given a camera to record their trip, and were sent to three different continents. They did get to choose where they went though. Jin and Koki had opted for San Francisco because Jin and Koki wanted to practice their English. Ueda and Nakamaru chose to go to Taiwan because neither was too keen on having to travel very far. And it was Kame's idea to go to the Netherlands. Originally he wanted to go back
to Paris, but the crew said every celebrity went to Paris and they needed to go somewhere "new" so the viewers would be more interested.
They walked around a lot even on their first day there, since the time difference made them stay up later. They only stayed in the city for a week, but the camera was filled with videos of them walking around, going out to eat, and visiting some famous places, in the first six days. Which gave them a whole day to take it easy and leave the camera in the hotel room. Junno felt that was hardly enough time to see everything. Their last night in the city, they walked around the streets and districts near their hotel.
They stayed in Rembrandtplein at first, rather known for its nightlife, and was where their hotel was. Then they ventured over to Leidseplein, also known for its nightlife, though Junno thought this square was much more interesting.
"Ah." Kame said and stopped walking, looking up. Junno followed his gaze to a small cafe nestled between two taller buildings. The sign was glowing against the darkening sky, neon letters and a palm tree inside a rectangle. Junno found it somewhat odd and out of place.
"A coffee shop I guess? Can we go in?" Kame asked, hand already on the
door. Junno nodded and Kame pushed the door open to let them walk in.
The room had a thin layer of smoke floating in the air, dimmed lights in the corners, and an almost French cafe feel. Cafe tables lined the wall next to the entrance while sofa chairs with coffee tables were spread around the room. There was a flight of stairs next to the register, which had smoke spilling over and around the iron hand railing.
Kame stepped up to the counter, trying to read the black board behind it. The items were written in chalk, in Dutch with what looked like English written under it. Kame squinted at it.
"Excuse me, what is good here?" he asked slowly in English.
The girl behind the counter said something that Junno didn't catch.
Kame paused for a minute before answering.
"I'm going to grab us some seats,” Junno said to Kame, who nodded and
continued talking to the girl.
Junno chose a pair of sofa chairs in a corner of the room. A few minutes later, Kame returned, sitting down in the chair opposite of Junno. Kame said something about not quite being able to read everything on the menu. So he had just looked at the dessert and pastry samples and picked whichever looked good.
They didn’t have to wait long; the girl at the counter brought them a plate and some napkins several minutes later. As she set the plate down, she smiled brightly. Her eyes had a twinkle, as if she were hiding a secret. Junno gave her a rather confused smile back, thinking the café was becoming more odd and particular.
"Hm. I wonder what I exactly I ordered..." Kame looked down at the
plate. Small squares of deep brown, almost black, were stacked in a pile. The top layer looked crunchy and cooked while the rest looked moist and soft. They looked like chocolate. Junno bent his head closer. They were chocolate!
He knew the name for these. Jin had told him about them when he came back from L.A. They were a popular dessert in the States. But what was the name…
Junno’s eyes widen as the realization hit him. Brownies. These were brownies. But not the regular type of brownie. These were cannabis brownies.
Kame had ordered them Cannabis. Cannabis in the form of brownies. And he didn't even know it.
Before they left Japan, they decided that learning a bit about the country was necessary so they didn't run into any problems. Kame said he knew where to look for information on how to get around the city and the exchange on money because of his previous experiences. So Junno decided to look up laws and what was illegal to do and what wasn't.
Mainly he read about the differences between Japan and The Netherland's law on marijuana. He was so fascinated by it; he ended up learning a lot of things. He read that cannabis foods, which included mostly baked goods, had the drug baked into them yet and had all the same effects as smoking it.
"Kame th-" Junno started to explain, then stopped. Kame looked at him, expecting a continuation of his sentence or an explanation as to why he interrupted himself.
Junno looked back at him, thinking. He had heard cannabis was a gateway drug, that it could be addictive, that is could screw someone up really bad.
He didn't want to hurt Kame.
Kame, who could be energetic and yet later be totally reserved in his thoughts. He was engrossed in his work most of the time. Junno often admired this about him; his ability to put a hundred percent, if not more, into anything and everything he did. Though sometimes he looked as if this way of life was tiring. Junno could see this way of life was tiring. Kame put up a good front, but in reality it was probably exhausting to continue.
And that made Junno want to protect him, or help in any way he could. He had pulled Kame into proper hugs before, face serious and arms wrapped tightly around that thin waist. He would smile widely afterwards, sometimes offering a joke to lighten the mood. He hoped those moments when Kame’s hands tightened in the fabric of Junno’s shirt meant he understood what Junno was trying to say. Meant that maybe Kame realised himself he needed a break once in a while.
Kame would be eating it, Junno rationed. Which was the safest way to take the drug since it wouldn't affect his respiratory system.
So, Junno didn't say anything. Seeing Kame have a good time, even though he would be under the influence, was the deciding factor. Instead, he shook his head and started over.
"Never mind. Well, they don't look too bad. Let's try some."
Kame nodded and reached for one of the brownies. Junno also took one, but merely put it on a napkin and kept it on the table.
Kame lifted the dessert to his lips and took a bite. He chewed it thoroughly, cocking his head to the side and sampling the taste. Junno leaned forward, waiting for Kame's reaction. Or for Kame to say something like, "What's this funny taste?" At which Junno would come clean about what was really in the treat. But it never came.
Instead Kame asserted a short, "Delicious!" before taking another bite. Junno stared at him. Surely, he would be able to taste it; weed wasn't exactly a nice taste, right? Though Junno really didn't know as he had never tried the drug before.
"Try it, you'll like it." Kame said in between bites.
Junno took a tiny bite. He tasted more chocolate than anything else. The drug seemed to be hidden pretty well. About to take another bite, Junno raised the brownie to his mouth. Then paused, looking over at Kame.
“You already finished the first one?”
Kame swallowed before answering, “They’re good, whatever these are!” And proceeded to eat more.
Junno looked suspicious.
“Just…don’t eat the whole plate okay?”
“Okay.” Kame said, finishing the second brownie.
Shortly, Junno could only stare down at the plate, now empty save for the random clusters of crumbs. He looked at the plate, he looked at Kame. Plate, Kame, plate, Kame. Before either of them realized it, Kame had eaten most of their dessert. He had practically inhaled them off the plate.
Junno wasn’t even sure how high Kame was. He had to have consumed a fair amount. He didn’t look very high and from Junno’s knowledge it was supposed to take longer for the effects to wear in. Junno contemplated this as he eyed Kame. The other was sitting up straight though had a goofy grin on his face, as if he were about to laugh any moment.
Deep breath and…“Iriguchi, deguchi, taguchi desu” Pointing, body movements, and smiling facial expression included.
Silence. Kame gaped at him, eyes wide. Then… He jumped up and clapped his hands, laughing hard with a big smile on his face.
Well, there was Junno’s answer. How many times had he uttered that simple pun? And not once had Kame laughed so hard. Junno smiled.
“What do couples like to eat? ….Cup of noodles.”
Again, Kame laughed though this time throwing himself back against the couch. He slid a hand over his eyes. That laughter, Junno wanted to bottle it up and keep it with him. Didn’t Kame realize he looked so cute when he laughed? When the smile reached his eyes, when he threw his head back and exposed his slender neck.
Maybe it was the silly side of Junno that loved Kame’s laugh…
Walking through the streets with a high Kame was not something Junno thought of when he imagined them in Amsterdam. Seeing those old-style Dutch buildings and stone bridges, yes. Kame dragging Junno through crowds in the red light district, no. At least they weren’t in Japan, with so many eyes and people to recognize them. Where one sight of Kame’s behaviour would land them with an article in Friday and an angry Johnny.
Maybe not telling him was a cruel thing to do, Junno thought as they headed down the street, Kame gripping his hand tightly. The district was pretty crowded today, though Junno supposed that made sense seeing as it was later at night.
The neon signs and bright colours shone through the windows. Kame was going wild. He would drag them over to a shop, press his palms against the window pane and laugh up the girl, or girls, inside. He seemed attracted to anything neon like a bug attracted to light. Maybe it was the fact that Kame had practically inhaled those brownies and was reeling in the effects. Or maybe it was because Kame belonged to Johnny’s; all those sparkles and rainbows had to get to him
eventually.
Kame stopped laughing and tugged on Junno’s hand, indicating he was moving them further into the district. And in turn, farther from their destination, their hotel. He was positive that the district opened to another street and from there they could make their way back around the block. It was a little inconvenient but there really was no stopping Kame at that moment.
Instead, Junno concentrated on the warmness of Kame’s hands and fingers. He hadn’t realised how cold his hands were.
The signs seemed to flicker and fade as they made their way to the end of the street and onto another. The breeze from the canal brushed against their faces and gently pushed back Kame’s bangs.
“It's nice, isn’t it.” Kame sighed after his giggles ceased. They continued to hold hands as they walked along the street, passing the hundreds of bikes parked against the canal’s railing. Kame looked up at the sky as they walked.
Junno turned his head to look at Kame, “Hmm? What is?”
“This. Everything. I really love it here. It’s so different from Japan. I feel unknown, like a regular person who can do anything and not have to worry about people recognizing me.” Kame doesn’t face Junno. It’s almost as if he’s talking to the sky itself. He continued.
“You know, sometimes when I see people in the convenience store or walking around a mall or just eating at a small table next to the window in a restaurant get really jealous of them. They do anything they want and no one is going to pay them any attention. I can’t do that. We can’t do that.
"But I then I think, I wouldn’t change the past if I could. I would leave everything as it was. Because even though it’s hard sometimes being in our group and being famous I think it really changed my life in a positive way. I think about how happy everyone makes me and how even though we don’t agree on everything, we’re together and we support each other. I really, really like that.”
They reached their hotel just as Kame stopped talking. The distance seemed shorter with Kame’s words trickling into his ears. He hadn’t known Kame thought about all that stuff. It was like a different side of Kame was presenting itself to Junno.
Kame gazed at Junno, a wide smile splitting his face in half. “That was pretty deep for me, huh?” He said cheerfully. Junno smiled softly, looking back at the younger one.
“Weird, huh? Never thought you’d be so profound,” Junno joked. Kame stuck out his tongue, and then smiled again. The same sort of smile from their junior days.
“Come on. Let's go inside,” Kame pushed Junno through the door and they made their way to the elevator. Once in the room, Junno kicked off his shoes and flopped down on the bed. It had been a rather awkward and long day.
Kame was still bursting with energy; he took his shoes off, sat down on the bed, lay down, rolled around, sprang back up and started pacing. Junno closed his eyes and listened to Kame’s soft footsteps on the carpet.
Seconds later, he heard the closet door being opened, then closed. Then the dresser drawers were pulled back. Shuffling, moving clothes around, the sounds of fabric and metal zippers scrapping the bottom of the drawer filled the room.
Kame’s burst of laughter made Junno jump and snap his eyes open. He sat up and looked at where Kame was standing, holding something against the light.
No. Not that. Junno decided he didn’t care what happened, he was going to burn that outfit as soon as they returned to Japan. The long-sleeved shirt, that skirt, even the vest had made it all the way to Europe crumpled between jackets and shirts.
“I-I haven’t seen.... this…. in a while. I can’t believe you-you-you
still have it!” Kame said between laughing. Junno stood up and attempted to grab the uniform from Kame’s grip. But Kame was too quick. He moved it to his side, somewhat over his shoulder.
Junno sighed, “I can’t believe it either. But can I have it back? I
need to put it back in my suitcase where it belongs.” He stretched out his hand but Kame merely looked down at it. Then he pushed Junno onto the bed.
Once again, Junno was sitting on the edge of the bed. Though this time Kame crawled onto his lap and wrapped his legs around Junno’s waist. Leaning back a little, he held the outfit with both hands.
“Should I try it on?” Kame asked, punctuating each word with seduction dripping off each one. Scrunching the material in his hand.
Junno shook his head. Kame inched closer and closer. So close their lips were almost yet barely touching.
“No,” Junno replied breathlessly, “It will only get in the way.”
He hardly leaned in at all before his lips touched Kame’s. But it wasn’t enough; grabbing Kame’s waist, Junno pulled him closer and pressed his mouth firmly against Kame’s. Kame wasted no time in licking Junno’s bottom lip, asking for entrance. The kiss was a lot rougher than Junno imagined, teeth and tongues clashing.
But the way Kame moaned when Junno lightly bit his lip was more than enough to keep Junno going…
Junno squirmed around, fighting the sensations that were running through his body. Kame swirled his tongue around the sensitive head, like he was candy deprived and Junno’s cock was a tasty lollipop. In the back of his mind, an alarm sounded; he was taking advantage of Kame. True, Kame had practically jumped on him and almost ripped his pants off him. But it was Junno who had kept his mouth shut and let Kame eat all those cannabis brownies. Kame was higher than a balloon, slipped from someone’s hand. He was probably not fully aware of any of this.
“Relax,” Kame had stopped his ministrations, though still held Junno in one hand. He sat back on his knees and peered up at Junno.
“I can tell you’re holding back. I want to do this. I know you want to do this. Actually, I’ve always wanted to do this. Because I love you, you know that. So you’re not going to stop me. Not even you can stop me from getting to…you.”
The straightforwardness-nothing Junno had quite seen before- made him sit there with his mouth open as if words would come tumbling out any second. Kame continued to lick Junno’s cock, then placed it at the tip of his lips he blew onto the head. And all thoughts flew from Junno’s mind.
All Junno could do was offer a high-pitched moan in response. Eyes closed, head thrust back. He wished they were near the headboard so he could lean his head against that. He sat up and threaded his fingers through Kame’s short hair, though resisted holding the man’s head and fucking his mouth. Instead he tightened his hold on Kame’s locks.
Almost immediately Kame pushed his mouth all the way down to the base of Junno’s cock. Junno could feel the tip against the back of Kame’s throat. Junno opened his eyes and looked down. Kame was starting up at him, eyes wide and innocent looking (almost in a suggestive way that only Kame could pull off). The look in Kame’s eyes told Junno he would smirk if he could. Hands still on Junno’s hips holding him still, Kame continued to stare up as he hummed as loud as he could. Junno moaned low and deep, finally letting go and coming hard into Kame’s waiting mouth.
He fell onto his back, thoroughly exhausted. He adjusted his jeans and zipped them up, thinking they were done for the night. Kame wiped the corner of his mouth before getting onto the bed and lying down next to Junno. Junno turned his head and looked right at Kame. They locked eyes before Kame moved to kiss Junno very softly on the lips. Then he moved down to Junno’s neck, kissing and sucking on small spots, before biting and nipping at the flesh.
Junno moaned and tangled a hand in Kame’s hair. Kame stopped and
looked straight at Junno.
“Clothes off. Now.”
Kame stood up and started to unbutton Junno’s shirt, hastily yanking it off before turning to his own shirt and pulling it over his head. Junno stared at him incredulously. How much weed had he taken exactly? He grabbed Junno’s face and crashed their lips together.
The kissing was still amazing and Junno felt himself be pulled back into that haze of need and want. Kame sat back down and lay on his back with Junno climbing on top of him, all without ever breaking their kiss.
Junno pulled away, “Pants. Need to…take off pants.” He moved back and sat on the edge of the bed, back towards Kame. Working quickly, he removed his belt then pulled off his socks and went to unzip his jeans.
The zipper wouldn’t move. Junno pulled it up hard then tried to move it back down. But the thing was stuck, presumably on a loose thread or something. He calmed down and slowly zipped the zipper down. Finally getting both legs out, he turned around.
To find Kame fast asleep. Junno hung his head; Kame must have passed out, not used to having such an amount of the drug in his system. Junno moved closer, putting an ear to Kame’s mouth. He was still breathing, even snoring a little.
Junno looked down at the younger man. He was so cute when he slept, arms bent above his head and hair messy. Junno carefully slid Kame under the covers then made the room tidy. He turned off the light and climbed into bed.
And now, looking at the man sleeping next to him, Junno thinks about everything that happened that day. Kame had said he loved Junno. Though, he had still been high. Junno resolved that actually the first thing he was going to do when they got back to Japan was reply to Kame’s statement. It was about he made his feelings clear. No more silence, no more trying to get his meaning across by actions. It was time he used words.
It was all Kame’s fault. It was Kame’s fault that this trip was going to change their lives forever.
