Cloak Dagger has surpassed Direct Control as my favorite current band. I'd try to describe their "Pinata" 7", but nothing I could say would do it justice. It's a couple of people from Count Me Out, including the same singer, and retains the urgent and cathartic energy of that band while trading in the modern youth crew for a sound that's influenced by late 70's and early 80's hardcore and US punk but sounds updated and modern in the right kind of way. Plus this thing has hooks like a motherfucker.

It seems like in recent years, there has been more of a blending of subgenres of hardcore punk, especially kids who got their start in modern hardcore and youth crew (bands) but dug deeper to discover 70's and 80's punk/hardcore and ran with it.

Today is my day off and I think I just perfected my tofu scramble recipe. There could have been more portions of veggies and I wish I'd put the mushrooms in earlier, but I got the cooking time and portions of spices (coriander, cumin, and Bragg's Liquid Aminos) just right.

There are a lot of good shows coming up in the fall without being an overwhelming amount, and after wanting to last year, I am for sure going to This Is For You fest in Florida at the end of December, regardless of how I get there.
