[Other characters currently played] Sherlock Holmes / Sherlock / functionals

[Character name] The Doctor (tenth)
[Age] around 900....ish
[Canon] Doctor Who
[Point in time taken from canon] After the episode 'Gridlock'

[Background]
    Tenth's background
I will be taking him post Gridlock, in which he and Martha have just left New New York after saving it from Macra and hearing the Face of Bo's last words to the Doctor, but before they land into 1930's Manhattan. He'll still have a lot of the guilt of losing Rose, but he's travelling with his new companion Martha Jones.

[Personality]
The Doctor is a very complicated character. With every regeneration, not only his looks, but his personality changes. So I'll focus more on the Tenth's personality.

If one could take this regeneration of the Doctor to a psychiatrist, they would most likely diagnose him with Bipolar Disorder and leave him there. He shows signs of usually being in a manic state, energetic and a motor mouth when it comes to things that interest him (which are most things) if no one stops him. He is also quite the scatterbrained man and can get excited over the strangest things; the deadlier and stranger, the better. But at the same time he is arrogant and rude, having little to no tact with others. He is close to merciless and impulsive when it comes to danger and facing an enemy. In the face of danger, he will probably be the one that will place a person in danger, but he will also be the one that will save that same person. Even so, he tries his best to get along with extraterrestrial beings, and treats them kindly...as long as they're not planning to destroy the Earth or the Universe.

Even so, even the Tenth is a complicated person. This is because he is still fresh out of the last Great Time War, in which he not only "eliminated" (which didn't work) the Daleks, but his own race as well. Currently, he is the last of the Time Lords, and it has affected him when it comes to his personality. He always tries to take a pacifist's way out, and if there is something that can be noted about him is his dislike of guns in general. Before using violence, he will try to talk to the offender first. And if that doesn't work, well, let's say that it won't be a very good thing to do. His anger is a quiet, but boiling rage, and he has a one chance policy before he unleashes his rage. If one hurts his companions, there is really nothing that he won't do to get revenge. To him, it can be said that revenge isn't always best served cold, especially when his friend's lives are at stake....and the world's.

Which is another thing about him, and that is his loyalty with his companions. Sure, the Doctor won't mind lying or deceiving to them, because he knows that telling a few lies along the way will save them in the end. He will do anything and everything for his friends, such as causing a supernova just to get enough energy to see Rose one last time. He will put his friend's and loved one's lives before his own, and he will push them away just to keep them safe, even if it hurts him a lot more than what he wants to show. From when I am taking him from, he has recently lost Rose, which causes him to have not only a bit of a hero complex, but also to become a bit of a death seeker, throwing himself into deadly situations and escaping death by an inch. After the event with Rose and the Time War, it's obvious that he wants to save everyone, no matter the cost.

Now, the Doctor is smart. And when I say smart, I mean really smart. Of course, he knows tidbits about most things, and he's able to make gadgets out of ordinary things such as radios or loose cables. He is a master of making plans, but these plans aren't made ahead of time, but as they go along. He prefers to not live life by a constant plan but to make things as they go along. While it seems dangerous (and it really is), he will usually think of a plan right at the last second. He also, as impulsive as he is, has quite a lot of experience when it comes to knowing when and when not to go running after someone or something in a dangerous situation. He will always remind his companions, and if there is something that he doesn't like, it's to be ignored. Along with his hero-complex, he has a god-complex, believing that his options are the right things. He'll lie, manipulate, and not share plans with them so that they are safe. His plans are always right when it comes to him, and he believes that he is one of the highest on the bar when it comes to judgement. Which is why he needs his companions.

His companions are there for more than just simply because he wants to take people out on a ride. After losing all of his race, and considering that in the canon I'm taking him from, he still doesn't know that the Master is still alive, he is lonely. He is an incredibly lonely time lord. One reason he has his companions is to slightly ease that loneliness that he hides beneath the happy exterior, to let him believe that he is not completely alone. But another one is a much darker reason. Because of the Doctor's god complex, he tends to make decisions about which civilizations live or die. In the Runaway Bride, he decides to kill off the Racnoss and watch the remaining one burn while the newborn drowned. He needs his companions so that his complex doesn't get the best of him and ends up hurting the people he loves. In other words, his companions also serve as a sort of leash for him. Under his manic exterior lies a man who has been damaged from the Time War, with a heavy load on his shoulders due to survivor's guilt. He apologizes a lot and in those rare times when his ego isn't the size of a planet, it's shown that he has quite some loathing towards himself and he is quick to blame himself.

In summary, the Doctor is a very complicated man. On the exterior, he is a happy, eccentric man, who loves to travel around space and time escaping from monsters. But in the interior, lies a Time Lord that has been scarred because of war. He is lonely and because of that he needs his companions. A genius who needs an audience to show off to, and yet he also needs a person to control him so that he doesn't go mad. But all in all, if you become a friend of the Doctor, which is not very hard, you will have a friend for life, who will look out for one and even put his life on the line for you. That is if you can handle an awful lot of running, trying to follow his train wreck of thoughts, and him manipulating and lying for your safety. In the end, he cares, and he will take care of his friends in...his strange way.

[Abilities]
The Doctor has various abilities. As a Time Lord, he has a few differences from a human, such as a lot more stamina. It has also been seen that he can sort of mind meld with others, and telepathically communicate with other telepathic beings. He also seems to have some slight ability to recover from smaller wounds faster than humans, and because of his two hearts, killing him is a bit harder since he can still sort of function with one heart. His last ability is his ability to regenerate, though he won't be using that in Somarium of course.

[Other important stuff]
He's The Doctor and he's from Gallifrey?? He also has two hearts and likes to run a lot. He also hates pears in this regeneration. His pockets, just like his TARDIS are bigger on the inside, and he carries with him his sonic screwdriver and his psychic paper.

[Sample post]
[First Person]
    - What do you think of your home world?
.....My home world...was a beautiful place, where the twin suns would rise and would light the sky. It had all these numerous spires and orange grass, nothing like the ones from this world, no. It really was a beautiful and amazingplace.

    - Your country is in the middle of a war. What do you think of it? Do you support it or try to solve it yourself by going on an epic quest? Explain.

I've already gone through this, I don't want another war like the last one. But...if I had to...I would do what is necessary to end it.

    - You are on the verge of death. You know there is no way to survive and there's no coming back. Choose any of the following to answer: Who is the last person you think of other than your killer?

I'll think of her, of course

    - Would you consider yourself a well traveled person? If so, what are some of your favorite places? If not, would you want to travel or is there some place you want to go?

Well I suppose that for you I can count as 'well traveled', but really, the universe is such a vast place! I'm sure that I haven't seen the half of it! But I'd have to say that my favorite place has to be Barcelona. Not the city, mind you, but the planet Barcelona! Did you know that they have dogs with no noses there? It is simply amazing!

    - Do you prefer adventure or the peaceful life?

Adventure! I mean, really, who can actually live their life stuck in some house and doing those mundane things that everyone does? I'd go mad if I had to...settle down. And plus, it's so much more fun to travel through the time and universe! Who wouldn't prefer that over staying and watching telly or something?

    - What were you doing before now?

Hmm, well I was just in the TARDIS with Martha after saving New New York. That's right, New New York, though it would really be more like New New New New New New New New York. But anyways that makes me wonder where Martha is? She better not have run off now, I thought she would be the one that would finally listen!

    - If you were to describe yourself in one sentence, what would that be?

    Me? I'm an amazing genius!

    - Oh look, there's a double rainbow!

A double rainbow?! Where?! Ooh, I rarely get to see double rainbows, though they look really dull compared to the pictures. I thought they would be brighter.
[Third Person]
Another day in the TARDIS with Martha meant another day to travel across space and time. To the Doctor, that was possibly one of the best things that he could be doing at this moment. It kept his mind cleared from the darker things that he did not want to think about.

Of course, the planet they had arrived was, as usual, not the place which he had expected. He had promised Martha a the planet Vixloxcus, where the fish flew in the sky! Not a place in which things grew upside down. It was still interesting, sure! But when the TARDIS took him somewhere else, it meant that she knew something that he didn't. And it seemed that it was the case this time.

"So, Martha! This really isn't where I was going to take you, but this is a much better place! Now if I could only remember the name...." He says, not bothering to look back towards the female, since he already had grown used to the fact that she would not run on her own account, unlike Donna or....Rose. But when he heard no response from her, he turned around, only to find that Martha was in fact, not behind him.

"Oh come on, you have to be kidding me!" He exclaimed to no one, as he looked around for his companion to no avail. "Really, does anyone listen to me when I tell them to not run off!?" He rose his arms, running in the direction that they had come from. Just a regular day when one was with the Doctor.

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] There's just something about the Doctor that would interest me to play him in Somarium! It's probably because I like characters like him, and also because he's my first DW muse. Really, I would like to see him make friends with other people in Somarium, especially after losing the person he loved.
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] No god-moding and no metagaming always and forever! Mostly since it's because what everyone should follow??
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] idk man magic
[Any questions?] How are you guys?!
