My DH and I were sitting and monitoring United's website hoping to get rebooked by them at least. In the meantime, we called Lufthansa several times and were given the same BS answer about our tickets being an awards one - f..ing discrimination ....
United fixed their reservation system around 1am and were able to rebook us. Unfortunately, they had no choice but to look for award seats (since it was not a problem on their side) - we can consider ourselves lucky that they found 4 seats for Sunday flight, since usually these tickets are being booked a year in advance. Yes, this is exactly when we booked this trip - at the end of last summer
United rep's was pissed off at Lufthansa as well and told us that what they did was in violation of IATA rules and suggested that we call them again.
Guess what, after we called them again and they saw a note by United rep in our reservation, they eventually agreed to talk to us, but ... it was too late - they just did not have any seats left on any flights to Europe (we were willing to go to any place: Munich, Zurich etc )
Remember where I work, guys??? Travel industry, that's right! So I'll get to the bottom of this - I'll find these IATA rules and regulations and I'll file a complaint
No, it won't give me more time in Europe, but if I was given lemons - wait for the lemonade, world. Lufthansa will drown in it!!!!!!!!!!!
