I'll probably do this for a couple other characters of mine, but here's Irma first, since I've been playing her recently.

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is she heavyset, thin, short, rangy?

Irma's about 5'5, and she's kind of thin. Not, like, "EAT SOMETHING, GIRL" because she usually snacks on things if she doesn't actually eat eat something, but she could gain a couple of pounds.

2. How old is she?

Because of Wacky Nexus Hijinks, let's go with eighteen.

3. Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well or does she slouch?

She doesn't, like, slouch, but she isn't the patron saint of good posture. Irma almost seems like she's trying to make herself smaller, or at least hard to notice, as well as trying to make herself come off as docile and stuff.

4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

She's pretty healthy, and she's pretty fit. She doesn't go to a gym or anything, but she usually takes stairs and stuff. Illnesses, no, conditions, no, and no on the disabilities. Unless the occasional ache in the joints when it rains counts.

5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

Hm. Irma is sort of graceful. She moves in a bit of a nervous manner, sort of like she's worried about being watched, but tense, no.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror?

She's pretty. She actually has issues with mirrors, so we'll just go with how she sees herself - she sees herself as okay. She knows that people can find her attractive and stuff, but she's not all "oh yeah, I'm gorgeous."

7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

Irma has light, clear skin on her face. However, her arms and other parts of her body are scarred. She usually has an illusion on herself for this reason.

8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style.

Irma has white hair, and will occasionally call it 'old lady hair.' The texture is pretty soft, and she doesn't really have a style. It's sometimes drawn back into a ponytail, though.

9. What color are her eyes?

Brown.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

Well, her white hair has a tendancy to stick out.

11. What are her chief tension centers?

Her neck and shoulders. It's why she's always rubbing them.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit?

Ahaha, it's casual, and varied. She usually goes towards the darker colors, though. She's only got one dress, and a couple of skirts. There's a couple of outfits she keeps kind of hidden, the fancier, more party-ish outfits.

13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them?

Yeah, they do. Just because she gets them from thrift shops does not mean they don't fit well. And she wouldn't wear clothes that aren't comfortable.

14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences?

She wears the same clothes on the job.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

Regular underwear, I guess?

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

It's not very deep, but it's nowhere near high-pitched. A happy medium, I guess. When she's upset it can become hoarse.

2. How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate?

Normally it's soft and even, because she wants people to hear her well enough so that she doesn't have to repeat herself, but it's soft because she's always a little nervous and has self-esteem issues. She has a tendancy to hesitate, but once she knows a person better it comes easier.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

She grew up in the North, so most of the dialect used there is what she uses. She hasn't lived in New York enough to have that kind of accent, though. As for verbal tics, I don't think so, except when she's scared or stressed she'll have a small stutter, and she has a tendancy to say "Um" a lot when uncomfortable. If she's really overwhelmed, tired, or depressed, she'll get a sort of monotonous tone.

4. What language/s does she speak, and with how much fluency?

Irma speaks mainly English, although she knows a little bit of German and a little Spanish.

5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

Nope.

6. Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words?

She usually doesn't have to spend too much time thinking about her words.

7. Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

Irma's pretty eloquent, in her own way. If she's nervous or something, that kind of goes away.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is she book-smart or street-smart?

It's a really strong mix of both. She reads a lot, but she did spend a couple of years surviving from bench to roach-motel, so she had to learn fast how to survive.

2. Does she think on her feet, or does she need time to deliberate?

Irma thinks on her feet a lot. She's kind of had to.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is she more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

Hoo boy. Prepare for infodump!

Irma is pretty logical. She's had to be to survive, and she's learned that thinking only with your emotions gets you screwed over. She doesn't like to rely on thought entirely, because she knows she's been wrong before, so she'll think on things and then try to feel it out, giving only maybe a little bit of weight to how she feels.

Now, she isn't really idealistic or practical - Idealism is something Irma is not good at. When Ume had been removed from her head and she was essentially starting over, with pretty much nothing, Irma was convinced that she was just going to end up on the streets again. She also thought that she was just a charity case for them, and the only reason they checked up on her was because they wanted to make sure Ume hadn't returned and that she hadn't gone off the deep end.

However, she's gotten a bit better now - she's still convinced that everybody wants something from her, but now she's pretty sure that it's not always a bad thing. More like they want a conversation or something. She's actually calmer when she thinks she's figured out what they wanted.

So yeah, Irma is far away from idealistic, and she's got issues to the point where being practical isn't really easy for her.

4. What kind of education has the character had?

Uhhh. Well, she never really finished school because a) Nexus, which lead to b) Ume. So yeah.

5. What are her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is she interested in learning more about?

Irma is a great reader, and she's a really good lockpicker. She's not sure what she's interested in learning more about yet, but she wants to learn more.

6. Is she an introvert or an extrovert?

Introvert introvert introvert.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is she even-tempered or does she have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?

Irma can have mood-swings, but she's really good at hiding them most of the time. She's more prone to being melancholy than anything, though, and she's a very hard worker.

8. How does she respond to new people or situations? Is she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

Usually timid. Not always, but usually.

9. Is she more likely to act, or to react?

React. Acting first is hard for her to do, but she can do it.

10. Which is her default: fight or flight?

Flight. If she was with other people, though, she'll fight.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does she appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?

Irma appreciates jokes. Her sense of humor is hard to place, though.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does she deal with them?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Okay. So. Irma had multiple personalities. The other one was a sociopathic serial killer that verbally abused and pretty much enjoyed torturing Irma. The other personality got removed about a year ago, because of damage she was doing. So, other than the multiple personality thing that's gone now, Irma has some serious issues.

They involve depression, trust issues, abandonment issues, self-esteem issues, and probably some anger issues.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined her as a person?

Oh lord. Um.

1. Finding the Nexus.
2. Todd handing her over to Orochi.
3. Her death.
4. Ume coming into her life.
5. The years she spent with Ume.
6. Finding the Nexus again.
7. Ume being removed.

Aaand most recent, the Dark City plot, which... left a lasting impression, and messed with her in ways, but also helped her in others.

14. What does she fear?

Irma's okay with small flames, but inviting her to a bonfire will get you a "HELL NO."

15. What are her hopes or aspirations?

Yeah, see, Irma's still at the point in her life where she's still mostly living in the now. She'd like to give college more than the occasional thought, but it's still a silly dream to her. Part of her wishes she can get to a point where she can actually touch people and be touched without it being a huge effort for her, because she remembers she wasn't always twitchy about it.

16. What is something she doesn't want anyone to find out about her?

Something? Uhh... let's settle for one, or we'll be here all day - how dependant she was on Ume.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with her parents.

Irma didn't know her dad, but she had a pretty good relationship with her mom and grandparents.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?

She's an only child.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom she is close? Are there ones she can't stand?

Not anymore.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom she considers part of her family? What are her relationships with them?

She doesn't really consider herself to be part of anybody's family, and if they brought it up or said they thought of her as family, she'd stare at them.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?

Oh lord. My first thought for best friend is Harold, simply because she's very relaxed around him and doesn't mind talking, usually. It helps that he didn't know Ume.

6. Does she have other close friends?

Well, there's Tom and Sarah?

7. Does she make friends easily, or does she have trouble getting along with people?

It's usually very hard to her to get close to people, but if she does, she'll get along pretty well with a person.

8. Which does she consider more important: family or friends?

Friends are family you choose. So it's kind of one and the same for her.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has she been married more than once?

Currently? Single.

10. Is she currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?

She's single.

11. Who was her first crush? Who is her latest?

Her first crush was a kid in her kindergarten class. At the moment, she's starting to get feelings for another person, but she's going to pretend that they're just friendship feelings.

12. What does she look for in a romantic partner?

Somebody that wouldn't freak out over her past, somebody that doesn't mind her issues and understands them, somebody that wouldn't hurt her. Maybe a bit taller and older.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does she relate to them? If no, does she want any?

No, and she's sure she'd be a terrible mom, so she's not thinking about kids at all.

14. Does she have any rivals or enemies?

At this point, no.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does she fall on the Kinsey scale?

Probably a two? She wouldn't be opposed to experimenting if she ever got over her trust issues and her touch issues.

16. How does she feel about sex? How important is it to her?

She doesn't care what other people do with it - however, for her? She wouldn't do it with a random person, she'd have to know them first, and even then it'd take a while for her to be confident and trusting enough to do it.

17. What are her turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?

Someone being gentle, deep voices, another person taking the lead if only slightly. Turn-offs would be violence or pain, feeling like she couldn't get away, the other person being really possessive. I have no idea what weird bedroom habits she has.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does she fit type?

I think she fits Virgo pretty well...

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in her life?

Irma, though not very religious, still has that good ol' Catholic guilt and more. I'd say she's more spiritual, though, but it's not something she dwells on.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?

Yes, she does. It's always sort of been there, though. And it would probably take a lot to compromise it.

4. How does she regard beliefs that differ from hers? Is she tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?

Irma's curious and very tolerant.

5. What prejudices does she hold? Are they irrational or does she have a good reason for them?

She's prejudiced against intolerant people, and she's wary around shrinks and doctors. The first has a reason, because intolerance is something that irks her, but the second is because she thinks they can tell too much about you too quickly.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is she rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?

Irma has an apartment and food, and that's usually enough for her. But basically she's pretty poor - the first furniture she had was from a thrift shop, but now her furniture is stuff she got off craigslist. It's not the best, but she manages.

2. What is her social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected her?

When she was growing up, she was middle class, and now she's kinda poor.

3. Where does she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is her home her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does she share it with others?

Apartment. It's starting to feel more like home to her, but it's still mainly a place to crash for her. It's in good condition. She shares it with a cat, but plotwise she may be getting a roommate soon.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does she spend her money on?

Coffee and books.

5. What does she do for a living? Is she good at it? Does she enjoy it, or would she rather be doing something else?

She works at a bookstore. She's pretty good at it, and enjoys it, but she still feels like it's a starter job.

6. What are her interests or hobbies? How does she spend her free time?

Reading. Sometimes she'll walk around the city.

7. What are her eating habits? Does she skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?

Irma is a master of the frozen dinner. She doesn't always eat meals, but she'll snack if she can't, so she's not slowly starving. Every so often she'll drink, but not on a regular basis.

Associations
Which of the following do you associate with the character, or which is her favorite:

1. Color? Silver.
2. Smell? The smell of burning leaves.
3. Time of day? Dusk/night.
4. Season? Autumn.
5. Book? Probably something from Terry Pratchett.
6. Music? Alternative rock, punk music.
7. Place? New York.
8. Substance? Coffee.
9. Plant? Irma loves the orchid Harold gave her.
10. Animal? Irma loves all sorts of animals - kitties especially.
