I suppose the mystery of missing memories will remain just that! Ah, 'what is life without a little mystery'? I was never very fond of that saying~ It seems as if one is trying to avoid admitting that they find bliss in ignorance. No-one seems particularly bothered about searching for them, which is a unique approach to losing something, ( Read more... )

Excuse me, sir. Is the weather here normally this dismal?

'Normally'? Perhaps. At least, it has been of late.

I understand it is late November. Perhaps it's only to be expected, but I am not familiar with this world's climate.

I've hardly been here long enough to inform you of the climate. Why, for all I know, this could be an exceptionally mild winter. Or it could be a hard winter. It's a little difficult to answer, isn't it, without having been here for the degree of time needed to fully acclimatise oneself.

I understand. Thank you for the information, regardless.

How long have you been here, sir?

Three months, more or less. Well, 'less' to be precise.

I have been here hardly a week myself, so you must understand I am still acclimating to this city and its, ah, differences from England.

I'm under the impression it's rather different from most places.

It does seem that way, sir. The landscape alone is far more barren. I'm used to living in a city, you see.

Also, my lord is used to many more... commodities, which do not seem readily available here.

Ah, but this is a city, or so others insist.

That's not a rare situation to find oneself in.

Perhaps it once was. It certainly does not resemble the sort of cities I am used to seeing. Or that my master is used to living in.

Unfortunately, that does seem the case. Perhaps, having been here longer, sir, you could offer some advice. Where is one to obtain warm clothing and perhaps a more suitable mattress?

Ah, but does the state of decay really stop it from being a city?

By looking~ I shouldn't think there's any one place, particularly since there are such a number of people here who would seek out the same items as yourself~

I suppose not. In that case, it is a decaying city.

I understand. In that case, I will continue exploring the vicinity. It does make things more difficult when there is no established currency, nor shops or the like. You haven't even a suggestion as to where I should search though, sir?

What I've seen of this place is fairly large, and fraught with dangers. I am loath to leave Lord Cain alone for long in this situation.

With regards to mattresses, looking in empty flats might help, don't you think? I'm rather sure common sense might be a slight aid ♥
