Your Presence Still Lingers.
#01 - Air
So many things feel left up in the air that to Omi, sometimes, it’s hard to breathe.
#02 - Apples
When Omi stares at him after he took a bite of his apple, Yuuri wonders if he ought to apologize; it just had seemed the most natural thing to do.
#03 - Beginning
Tsukiyono’s given name feels strange on his lips at first; Yuuri keeps on saying it when he is alone until it doesn’t.
#04 - Bugs
It’s frustrating that amnesia’s called a disease; it shouldn’t be because, if it was, then there’d be some medicine to take and then the amnesia-bugs would be killed; of course, it doesn’t work like that.
#05 - Coffee
The coffee tastes like steel in his mouth and it burns his tongue more often than not; Omi still drinks cup after cup after cup, keeping a close watch on the deep bruises underneath Yuuri’s eyes.
#06 - Dark
Yuuri had never been afraid of the darkness, but now he fears that it’ll make him forget something else.
#07 - Despair
Omi locks himself in the bathroom and turns on the shower and wills the sobs to not come out when Yuuri has no recollection whatsoever about April 8th and what it meant.
#08 - Doors
There had never been so many closed doors between them; changing, bathroom, privacy, memories.
#09 - Drink
Yuuri doesn’t know if 20-years-old-College-Boy-Yuuri drinks and he doesn’t want to ask; he doesn’t like the taste of the beer, and he stays just watching it until it’s time to go back to the apartment.
#10 - Duty
Omi never thought that the ‘In sickness or in health’ vow could be worse than the ‘until death due us part’.
#11 - Earth
He’s sure the earth has opened and swallowed him when Yuuri’s eyes are cheerful, but empty of anything else.
#12 - End
The end was supposed to come when they were over ninety, old and wrinkled; not when they’re barely getting close to twenty one.
#13 - Fall
The fall seems to take forever: it probably wasn’t much more than a few seconds before Yuuri collapsed against the wall.
#14 - Fire
The radio goes as far as - ‘if you should smolder, I’ll breathe in your smoke’ before Omi turns the damn song off.
#15 - Flexible
Yuuri tries not to make too many question: as strong as Omi’s will is, he doesn’t want to risk breaking him, just because he doesn’t know.
#16 - Flying
It’s like flying, almost, when he thinks he’s reaching the sky: he can almost feel whatever he’s missing, but then he’s being pulled apart.
#17 - Food
Omi has to bite his tongue to refrain from laughing hysterically when he thinks that he even misses Yuuri’s weird food experiments.
#18 - Foot
Ever so carefully, Yuuri nudges Omi’s ankle with his foot after the last thing he said made him sad; it’s a silent ‘it’ll be alright’ or maybe an ‘I’m still here’.
#19 - Grave
“I’m fine,” he tells Yuuri after he woke him up from his nightmare, very much wishing his old nightmares to come back since he’s not sure how many more of Yuuri in a grave he’ll be able to take without going insane.
#20 - Green
Yuuri doesn’t remember his green shirt; it makes it easier for Omi to wear it and not get questions.
#21 - Head
When Yuuri falls asleep on the couch and leans against him, his head against his shoulder, Omi can’t refrain himself from leaning back.
#22 - Hollow
Yuuri’s not used to emptiness, or the way his heart keeps on aching; for a moment he wonders about asking Tsukiyono if he feels the same way.
#23 - Honor
Omi knows vows that, if Yuuri wakes up, he’ll never take lightly the amazing honor of watching him breath, laugh, or just exist.
#24 - Hope
Yuuri has Chinese food and several DVD’s lined in the living room when he gets inside and when the other boy tells him that he thought that they could watch the movies he has no recollection of with a hesitant grin but grin nonetheless, Omi agrees; when he realizes that Yuuri ordered for his favorite even without asking, it’s very hard for Omi not to get his hopes up.
#25 - Light
One night, Yuuri puts an arm around his waist and snuggles close: Omi doesn’t sleep that night, afraid that the sudden beam of light will disappear.
#26 - Lost
Nowadays Yuuri always feels lost; he doesn’t understand why when Omi tells him that it’ll be alright the feeling both diminishes and grows.
#27 - Metal
Omi ends up putting Yuuri’s ring on a chain around his neck; the way the hard edges press against his skin is preferred at the idea of locking it in his drawer.
#28 - New
His new him seems happy, and so loved that it makes him ache in a way he’s sure would give psychologist everywhere a headache.
#29 - Old
“Remember me to tell the housekeeper about that step,” Yuuri had said on several occasions, “I think the stone’s getting loose.”
#30 - Peace
In that moment between awake and dreaming, when Yuuri’s eyelids start to flutter, is that Omi feels the most peaceful lately.
#31 - Poison
The taste in his mouth is almost like a poison, at having to reconstruct all their relationship piece by piece.
#32 - Pretty
Greta sends them a beautiful ‘Get well soon!’ card from her new home; it hurts all kind of new and strange ways to explain Yuuri who she is.
#33 - Rain
It rains on Yuuri’s birthday; it makes things easier to Omi, saying he just got some rain in his eyes.
#34 - Regret
Omi knows that he and Yuuri said ‘I love you’ more than enough times; he still regrets that he didn’t say it more.
#35 - Roses
Yuuri knows that there’s a reason why the tea colored and the deep crimson roses Omi brought make him ache; it’s frustrating that he doesn’t know why.
#36 - Secret
Yuuri eyes the small chest, the key on his hand, before he decides that the secrets it holds don’t belong to him.
#37 - Snakes
It’s kind of comforting to realize that even ‘Before’ Yuuri is as afraid of snakes as his is.
#38 - Snow
He wonders if it was his mom the one who took the picture of he and Omi in a snowball fight, and marvels at the fact that he could have ever been that happy.
#39 - Solid
Yuuri has nightmares (memories? fears?) but, somehow, watching Omi sleeping at his side, makes them disappear.
#40 - Spring
‘I hope that when I die, I’m buried beneath the blooming sakura trees’ Omi had recited over Hanami, just to have Yuuri roll his eyes and then immediately twin their fingers together; he wishes he could take it back.
#41 - Stable
At Yuuri’s enthusiasm, Omi just doesn’t have the heart to tell him that he knows the stable story and that he has seen photos and the scar that that particular trip had caused.
#42 - Strange
It’s weird and, frankly, kind of annoying to have someone worry so much about every little thing that happens to him now; but Yuuri also understands why Omi behaves like that.
#43 - Summer
The hospital is cold, so much that Omi barely remembers it’s actually summer.
#44 - Taboo
He’s been so spoiled that, now that ‘I love you’ is a taboo, Omi doesn’t know how to be without it.
#45 - Ugly
It comes as a shock to Yuuri that the ugly couch on the living room also smells like both of them.
#46 - War
It’s a constant war with himself- being so close to Yuuri that he feels his warmth and yet being unable to touch his face.
#47 - Water
Yuuri keeps on walking on the rain as he waits the half hour he has taken on to consider as Omi’s: let it be to talk to Jennifer, get angry or get sad, he just waits for it to end.
#48 - Welcome
Even Yuuri’s ‘okaeri’ isn’t enough for Omi to feel at home; there isn’t a warm smile or a kiss to accompany the words.
#49 - Winter
Yuuri’s not sure why he feels cold when his mom tells him - too cheerfully - about how she’s sure everything will be fine by next winter for sure.
#50 - Wood
Omi tries to keep himself from going crazy by thinking this Yuuri and his Yuuri as different people: shadows divided by a wood panel.
