... you do realize that we have a lot where you can be unoriginal and subtle, right. So this is version A of Being Subtle.
Billy has this thing that makes most of his spells go boom. It's not that he's bad or anything: if he's to go with his grandfather's words, it's because he was too much magic. And his grandfather has to know: he's been best friends (or something like that) with the headmaster since forever. There's this totally embarrassing picture of Billy climbing on professor's Xavier's wheelchair that he hopes doesn't have a copy at the headmaster's office.
But still, Teddy is the best one of the whole group at Transfiguration (being a Metamorphomagus does that) while Billy still can't quite manage to get his apple to turn into a fork (if he could just spell it, he'd be over with it so fast, even if the fork could possibly explode) so Teddy's trying to help him via showing him. It'd probably work if Billy didn't keep getting distracted by Teddy's piercings.
"So, uh..." starts Teddy. "You going to Hogsmeade this weekend?"
"Yeah, I've to buy a few things."
"I was sort of thinking that... uh... maybe we could go... together?"
For a moment Billy thinks about saying they go together all the time since, except when Kate, Tommy and Eli get quidditch practice, the seven of them do tend to go as a group. But then he actually hears what Teddy is saying and the forking apple is the least thing in his mind.
"You mean... like a date."
"... yes?"
He can't actually answer, but he gathers that his huge grin and the way that Teddy sort of blushes, ducks and grins too is more than enough answer anyway.
