(no subject)
So I've seen several posts in the past few weeks about fanfics people would write/want to write through their main fandoms.
Problem is that, as many of you know, I'm kind of a big fandom whore, so I have many. But still, since I do love the sound of my own metaphorical voice, this might help me a bit.
So some thoughts about plotbunnies I've had, pro's and cons about them.
Loveless, 17 years old Ritsuka, Amnesiac again.
General rambling: it's sort of alternate timeline thingy, I starte working on this before Ritsuka and Soubi actually met Seimei - almost three years ago? - but I work slowly about these things.
Pros: I HAVE ALMOST ALL THE PLOT FOR THIS. And I have, easily, about 15'000 words written for this already, which perhaps is not much for a long fic, but for me is a lot. not because I can't write it, but because I almost never start writing a long fic if I don't know exactly where I'm going. Most of what was delaying me was the psychological/medical research that I had to do.
Cons: Kouga Yun stalks my journal and she stole my 'a pairing brainwashes Ritsuka' plot. Which! I suppose I still can work on, my story - I hope - would be vastly different than Loveless, I hope, but. BUT.
I hate writing something that someone else has written. And in this case it's not just another person in the fandom. We're talking about the author. It doesn't matter that she's the biggest cocktease that has ever cockteased.
Kyou Kara Maou, the 20 years lapse after the end of the war/Yuuri arriving to Shin Makoku.
General rambling This has been my pet idea for as long as I've been in KKM. What's stopping me, mostly, is laziness, and the fact that in all the ten years I've been writing fanfic, I've never quite tackled a project this big.
Pros: KYOU KARA MAOU IS MY FOREVER GIRL. I love all the cast! As far as I know, the canon hasn't decided to steal my idea! Chance to write Original Characters! And funny times!
Cons My laziness against it, again. And well, I'd have to do a hell of a lot of military research.

General rambling UM. WIII? SINCE I STARTED READING DGM, I'VE WANTED TO SEE THIS DONE. The way I'd write it it'd most likely would have pairing-implications because I like them, but mostly is the whole End Of The World dynamics I want to play with. It wouldn't be too hard, either.
Pros: I have a great memory so I know most of the history already. Of course, I'd need to review a lot and study and plan, but it's not that important since history geeking is one of my favorite hobbies. This could also help me while I wait to see if DGM will ever carry on or not.
Cons: Hoshino hates me writing fic and the moment I'm actually invested with a plot, she decides to canon my ideas (/joke). That said, I am afraid of the whole canonizing my plot when I've invested hours and hours on research. I'd have to write some OCs, which I like but it's tricky. Also, the Noah, who we still haven't met completely, and character's backstory and, whinewhinewhine.
And also, um. I'm afraid that it'd be compared with allenmustdie. I WON'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE FIC, GOOD OR BAD OR ANYTHING. I'm just saying that I read the fic, and when it came out, I complained to telrunya, padf00t and daniela_lynx (possibly someone else? Can't remember) because I had already been planning a fic 'like that' (I'm speaking of the first two chapters or so).
As I said before, I hate writing something that others have written if I know they've written it. It's one of the reasons why I don't read much fic in the fandoms I'm actively involved. As I've mentioned before, my writing ego is huge. I have no problems admitting that. But while I know that it's almost certain that someone else must have written 'my' ideas, as long as I don't know it, I consider it fair game.
So now I know it's there.
TRC: Infinity Country.
General rambling LANTIS, EAGLE, GEO AND THE MAFIA. THIS WORLD, IT WAS MADE FOR ME.
Pros: No-one else - with the exception of my lovely Erica - would ever consider writing Infinity, at least NOT based on the secundary characters, which works just for me.
Cons I'm still waiting to see if CLAMP will say anything else about Infinity. Again, don't want to risk it.
Clover
General rambling It'd be the backstory for Gingetsu and Kazuhiko, how Kazuhiko lost his hand. Perhaps something more about kid!Oruha? I'm still not sure.
Pros: I'm pretty sure that no-one else has the idea I have, and since it's such a small fandom I'm also certain no-one has written it.
Cons Mostly the fact that it's CLAMP. It's hard.
And to that there's several original things, as well as that project with telrunya... mmm, I suppose we'll see.
