The worst part is, I think, the fact that family loyalty just isn't what it used to be. It made sense for them to be so conflicted in Shakespearean times but, really... these days, can't they just move away?

I don't have problems with that particular part, really. It CAN be done and it's not that outrageous. I mean, I've actually seen stuff like that happen. And it's not an easy choice, family vs. love.

My main issue is that it's overdone.

And two stupid teenaged suicidal lovers who kill themselves over discommunication is supposed to be romantic? god, now I know what has been wrong with the expectation about love in Western civilization in the last 500 years.
