So McCain definitely still retains my vote from a national security and foreign relations standpoint.

On the economy, however, Obama made a strong showing tonight in the debate, and in his planning in general.

I now join the ranks of the great undecided swing voter.

I don't think McCain's health care tax-break system is going to work. A $5000 credit in place of the $300 a month people pay now plus the thousands employers add in would be way more than $5000 for a typical nuclear family. Losing the credit from employers to make insurance a free-market would lead to a undercoverage disaster, I am afraid.

By the same token, Obama's plan seems more secure but has the potential to create a red-tape disaster with regards to the fining system. What is making everyone have a minimum of insurance in the case of a serious illness going to accomplish? You are still going to have people, as you do with car insurance, that are going to get into a serious accident or be diagnosed with something that their minimal insurance isn't going to cover and that are forever in debt because of it; the only thing this could potentially help is the overcrowding of ER rooms.

In short, I really just don't know. And I'm not going to lie, Palin being a cancer relapse away from the presidency in terrifying. So is Obama's sketchy funding from college to his campaigns for public office.

What is a girl to do?

I think the whole Palin almost being president thing is far scarier than anything I could imagine. I see your points about Obama's healthcare system, and it definitely has its own flaws. The fact that my parents pay $800 a month for insurance (and the district pays $300), shows that McCain's $5000 credit is ridiculous. And our insurance isn't even all that supped up. In fact, our copays keep going up (i know this is the case in all insurances right now), and they are trying to make me pay for my ER visit from last year because I can't prove that it was an accident, since I didn't file a report with the company. Go figure, I dropped the ladder on my head on accident because I like spending an entire night in an ER.
sorry. i went off. didn't mean to ramble, haha.
