This whole "working" thing? Overrated.

Except for the part where they send you money in the mail that you can then use to buy things instead of saving it like you should be doing. I like that part.

I'm getting my hair cut next week. I'm chopping it all off again. The last two times I did this, the cut turned out horribly, and I promptly spent the next year or two growing it all out again to get as far away from that terrible cut as possible. But I'm doing it again, because I am either optimistic or selectively forgetful. Either way, I'm really excited.

I finished The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman, so here is an

In general, I'm completely taken with the first book. I love the world in which Lyra lives, and all the different inhabitants and cultures. I love the idea of daemons. I can't wait to read the next one - I actually ran out to buy it right after I finished The Golden Compass, but neither Borders nor B&N had the cover I wanted, so I didn't buy a copy because I'm just that picky.

I've been reading so much fantasy this summer - I need to pick a different genre next.
