There's a light shining through...

I have a future! I just received word that I have been accepted into the Brandeis University Masters of Art in Teaching (secondary history concentration). I cannot describe how excited I am!
For anyone who hasn't kept up in my life: my original plans were to student teach next year, then get hired somewhere and try to get my master's degree through night school. It was a fine plan, but getting a master's at night while trying to start teaching would be really tough. Brandeis has just created a Masters program for secondary education, so this fall will be the pilot year. As such, they are only accepting 3 or 4 people in each of the four concentrations (history, english, biology and jewish studies). Obviously admission is very comptetitive for such a small group, but it an amazing program that includes the student teaching and everything. Although I will have to take out major loans to get through the next year, I will finish the program at the end of the summer in '08 with a teaching license and a masters.

This all means a few VERY important, fabulous things:
1) I get to stay at Brandeis for another year!
2) I get to stay with the Brandeis ED program, which is fabulous
3) In fall '08 I will be trying to find a job as a teacher - elements in my favor: I am going for middle school rather than high school, I will have a masters, the masters will be from Brandeis University.
All this should make getting hired easier than it may otherwisehave been.

Anyway, the main point is that I have a plan for my future and I am SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY! I was terrified that I wouldn't get into the program since it is so competitive. I had a back-up plan, but you can't imagine how much I wanted to be in this program.

So, the bottom line is: I GOT IN!
