I have a feeling the next few weeks are going to be a whirlwind. Tomorrow my RA application is due, I have to get my AUC paperwork out the door, and then I have to run around trying to get professors to sign off on classes again so that credits will transfer. Plus I have to write my proposal for my Work for Distinction project next year so I can do my honors thesis. I have an 8-10 page paper due in History of War on Thursday and haven't finished reading the books. Two more long papers coming up in the next few weeks, too. The only thing that really has me worried is finishing the BU study abroad paperwork and the work for distinction proposal.
Being back at school today was strange. There are very few people here; Comm Ave is basically dead. The dining halls weren't open so I went to Noodle Street by myself. I've never gone to a restaurant alone, and decided it's rather depressing, even when you have a good book on the Samurai for company.
Thanksgiving was interesting. My father is moving to Baltimore, but hasn't told my brother and sister yet. That made for some tension, because he keeps having bouts of guilt and indecisiveness, wherein my mother has to pick him up and put the pieces back together. Saw a lot of my Nana, which is always fun. We sit there and talk for hours. Dinner was nice. After not being home for Thanksgiving for the past two years, it was a welcome return to the familiar, low-key day we always have. Even though I was absolutely unproductive this week, it was nice to just lounge around. We barely got out of our pajamas. Granted, Tracey was sick, so that contributed to our laziness.
I got the acceptance package from AUC on Friday, and started going crazy filling out all the necessary stuff. I think I'm leaving January 25th and coming back June 3rd. But before I even think about any of that there's deposits and registration and visa complications like woah, which is unwelcome in a time of the year that's so busy already.
Saw Enchanted yesterday with Mom and Tracey. After being reared on Disney movies, I thought it was very clever, and had fun trying to identify which princess movies they were spoofing when. It looked to me to be mostly a hybrid between Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. Susan Sarandon looked like she had a lot of fun in her role. Anyway, it made me feel happy even when I was intent on being grumpy, so it's worth seeing.
That being said, I really can't wait to see The Golden Compass (hope they didn't mess up, looks promising), and want to see how they did with Love in the Time of Cholera.
Hope everyone had a nice holiday.
