This semester I am taking 13 credits, only 12 of which are required (art histories). The last credit comes from Tap Dancing. The most surprising thing about my Tap Dancing class, is that without it I'd have a 4-day weekend. (I already have no Friday classes, and Tap is the only thing I have on Mondays). So you can see, I REALLY wanted to take Tap, or I'd have opted for the 4-day weekend! I actually have it on Mondays and Wednesdays, 12:50-1:45. But it's good, because it makes me get out of the apartment and accomplish things (running errands, going to the bookstore, etc.) This class has been conflicting with other requirements for YEARS, and now it finally fit into my schedule. I decided to sieze the day, and follow my long-time dream of revisiting the dance studio.
The last time I was in tap shoes, before this semester, must have been in the forth grade. I took 2 years of ballet and tap (3rd and 4th grade) with my friend Jaclyn. Our teacher's name was Miss Anita. Jaclyn and I were evil little children, though. Whenever we'd go to change our clothes in the bathroom, we'd trash it! I wasn't normally an evil child, but Jaclyn was my "rebellious" friend who I could do these kinds of things with. We'd throw toilet peper at each other, and peel the paint from the stall doors. God, we were awful. I feel really bad about that now. The truth is, I really liked the dance lessons, I just stopped because Jaclyn stopped.
Either way, now that I am returning to my Miss Anita days, I am really enjoying it all. The steps come back easier than I would have thought they would. Our teacher is trying to cater to people being both beginners (me) and advanced in skill levels. So we are actually learning combinations and stuff, which is cool. I'm a little klutzy, but I do catch on... eventually. :-)
I should go... I must put on my outfit. (We have to wear a black leotard and black jazz pants.) More excitement later. This is all the excitement I can conjure up on a Monday morning!
