*ducks and covers to avoid the rotten tomatoes you're undoubtedly throwing at me because I haven't been updating...*
Yeah, I stink. Things have been nuts.
And by nuts, I mean totally nuts.
In the wake of London... I have neglected to update with details and/or pics. I owe you one. Really. I will scan some and put them up soon.
Two days after I returned, I received some horrible news that left me really bummed out: a classmate from high school (who had been a good friend in middle school) passed away from meningitis. She was the nicest, most cheerful girl--athletic and friendly with people from all different social circles. She died on Easter. She was only 22. It really hits close to home and makes me miss my other friends (who are scattered all over the country) even more than I usually do.
Things ROCK at the museum... You wouldn't believe it, but the Brooklyn Museum is doing a Marilyn Monroe Exhibit!!! As soon as I heard the news, I found out who the curator was (incidentally someone named Marilyn), and offered my services as a volunteer! I am thrilled out of my MIND. I saw some of the photographs they are using, and they are just spectacular. *Squeal!!!!!*
I've lost three fish: First young Harry (of "Harry and Houdini"), then Seymour (father of MANY), then Blackie (the lone Molly). Sad days! I am worried about the water and will change it this weekend!
Madison is on my mind more than anything... A few weeks ago she went to have her 2 front teeth removed and a growth of gum tissue that had formed around the bad tooth. Apparently that's common for dogs with a bad tooth. Well, they did a biopsy on the tissue they took out, and it is benign, but even though it is benign, it is an aggressive kind of growth that will keep on recurring. I'm freaking out here. I know my dog is getting up there in years--she is 11, almost 12. Even though these aggressive growths are non-cancerous, they're treated almost as a cancer. She will need radiation or radical surgery to "cure" it. My parents and I are concerned that either of those options will seriously lessen Madison's quality of life. We have not heard all of the options yet but we are going to be open minded. The real question we're wondering is what happened if we choose no treatment, or a "wait and see" attitude? She is happy and healthy otherwise, and eating well. She is having a post-op vet visit with my parents on Tuesday, so they will discuss options. I'm trying not to be too worried until I hear what they say.
Two days ago I received a distressing e-mail. Of all things, somebody accused me of plagiarism in one of my L&C fanfic stories. It was literally something I wrote in about an hour, titled "Half-Baked." The person was mean and accusatory in the e-mail and quite obviously wouldn't hear any of my side. I hadn't even read her story until I read the accusation. I sent an e-mail to the editor in chief of
http://www.lcfanfic.com and forwarded the nasty e-mail along with it. I was assured from the EIC and several other FoLCs that the accusation was entirely unfounded and came from someone who chronically accuses people of this type of thing. I have to say, I was sick over it. It's terrible to have somebody accuse you of something like that. Yet the support from the FoLCs was tremendous--I got numerous supportive e-mails that made me feel SO much better. Thanks, FoLCs!
Brought my pup (
_lois_lane_) out of a coma, and out of being Wanda Detroit. Think she will want to keep a low profile for a little while...
Worked at Plamer's for 2 days--trained a new girl, Nicole. Had a blast with Helen and Heidi!
Going to Ryan H's (yes... now I have to specify) play tomorrow after work! Looking forward to it! He directed I think 2 one-act plays. Hooray! Will get to party with him and friends afterwards.
It is beautiful outside!! I hope this weather lasts....
I have to go to bed, tomorrow is gonna be a long day!
