Upon arriving at the trailhead, we found THREE WALKING STICKS that some other walkers had left behind for the next hikers. If you can tell from this picture, my hiking stick had a little "fork" on the top of it, making it a PERFECT SIGG BOTTLE HOLDER!!!
Susan's trail guidebook had lots of interesting notes, including identification of the teaberry plant, a plant with berries that taste like minty chewing gum! We enjoyed some teaberries, and yummy blueberries that we identified along the way! (In this picture I am "harvesting" blueberries and carrying them around in my hand for us to snack on.) I was WAY EXCITED about finding our own food and eating it!
Walking sticks are not just for holding Sigg Bottles!! When we headed back down the mountain, they were invaluable for keeping us from falling down! It was so steep that you would kind of tumble down faster than you wanted to. Without our sticks, we might've died.
We tried to locate a natural spring, but failed at both attempts!
We saw three scenic vistas with great views of Happy Valley (clearly the best valley name EVER).
We may have interrupted a secret love tryst! Then we asked the trystees to take a video of us. :)
We burned 1,100 calories!
