* Girls' Weekend Out!
So... On Firday, Sam and Stacey came up to my house and we went to a diner, The Golden Eagle (a.k.a, "The Dirty Bird") then we watched a movie ("Bowling For Columbine"). I have to say, it was very good... although not a really great choice for a girlie night in.
The next morning when we arose, I made pancakes (& blueberry pancakes for anyone who wanted 'em)! We got dressed and headed into NYC for the day! Our plan was to see a play and get some dinner. We got to the city at 1:30 PM, and the Saturday Matinees started at 2! We decided to go to the first theatre we saw and try to get tickets. It turned out to be t6he Ford Theatre, which was showing "42nd Street!" I was so excited, since it was a show I had really wanted to see. Me being obsessed with Tap Dancing and all.
The show was incredible!! I loved it! The dancing was phenominal. Despite the play and the music being all upbeat, the sheer talent on that stage brought tears to my eyes. It is truly remarkable to see that kind of dancing. I think it is sadly becoming a "lost art."
After the play, we called Claire and got ahold of her. She wanted to meet us for dinner, so we met her in the Village and had dinner at a cute little Italian place! After that we had ice cream at "Cones" in the Village. "Cones" keeps getting written up in newspapers and magazines as one of the best ice cream places in NYC, and it is really awesome. The flavors are fabulous!
We hung out a little more, and then we headed home on the bus. It was really nice! Now that I see how simple it is to just show up at a theatre and get tickets, I might try and do that more often! Good times, good times...
Best of all was seeing the girls again, it felt like being back at school. :-)
