Laying the foundation for my Halloween plans.

Friends: Halloween is on a FRIDAY this year, which means I will finally get to celebrate it properly, at the Village Parade! What's that, you say? Why am I thinking about this SEVEN MONTHS IN ADVANCE?!

There are good reasons for that:

1.) I make my own costume every year. Just me and my li'l ol' sewing machine. In the past I've been pulling it together in the very last minute, but I don't want to do that this year!

2.) I want to do an ensemble costume this year, which will require me to "recruit" six (or more) others to commit to the awesomeness that is my Halloween costume.

3.) For elaborate costumes, I might need to buy different parts and props, and would like to spread this expense over the course of several months (ie, not just pay for all of the materials... immediately before Christmas).

4.) Come September or October, I expect my schedule to change DRAMATICALLY: I will be attempting to work full-time, go to school full-time, and also STUDENT-TEACH for the first time! (Yikes!) Costume should be complete before this happens.

Anyhow, after talking to my friend Ryan (perhaps the ONLY soul who loves Halloween, making costumes, and dressing up as much as I do!) on the phone recently -- we shared Halloween ideas. I will not disclose his TRULY FANTASTIC idea for Halloween 2008, but it is going to be fantastic!! I told Ryan that I wanted to revisit my 1998 high school "Gilligan's Island" costume, and he thought it was a great idea. I sealed the deal when I found almost all of the materials to make a "Ginger dress" at the Spandex House (I went there recently for materials for a sculpture I'm working on). I haven't bought them yet, but I will do so soon. Have watched a lot of "Gilligan" lately to make some sketches of the dress, etc. Hooray!
