I am so excited for the Spiraling Halloween show tonight! They'll be playing the music of Duran Duran. it is going to be awesome!! Marty has asked me to do their makeup which will include blush, eyeliner, and, yes, eyeshadow. I have a pretty good talent at applying makeup on boys. It was one of my biggest claims to fame when doing makeup in high school and after! I am very gentle with people who are not used to having makeup on them, or having things poked near their eyes! I could really be a Professional Men's Makeup Artist. hee hee!
I FINISHED my Bee Girl Costume, and it came out AMAZING. It is very accurate to the actual bee girl costume in the music video. It is really cute. I think it'll be fun to see if people "get it." :)
THERE ARE NO PIPE CLEANERS IN MANHATTAN! I went all over the place in search of yellow pipe cleaners to make the antennae! To no avail. Don't kids like pipe cleaners any more? I used to make stuff with them all the time! In the end I am using GOLD pipe cleaners I happened to have. I have painted them yellow. If that looks too crappy, I'll just use the plain gold ones.
I did have an amazing time at M& J Trimming, which is a "trimming store." They had literally every kind of trimming you could imagine! Of course the place was hopping due to Halloween! I got yellow ribbons for my tap shoes, and I got black sequin trim for my leotard top and bee girl tummy squiggle.
The only thing I do NOT have is yellow edging on the outside of my black tutu. Also my hair is too short to make pigtail braids. Everything else is spot-on! :) I will just do my best to have mini pigtails sticking out from under the hat.
I completed mouse ears and tail for Susan, made out of felt. They look really cute. I even put a bit of pink inside the ears using blush (a technique I perfected back in middle school when making the "Bunns" which were white rabbits who hat piny blushed inner ears).
Anyhow -- SUPER excited to go to the show tonight!! It is going to be a great time!
