It was so great to be.....

.....excited to go to work again!

Tonight was my first night in bakery but it wasn't my first official day. Carol had to have the evening off. I wasn't scheduled, so I offered to help out the best I could. I worked at 3 so it was like having a half a day off anyway. I'm rarely off on Thurdays. I was going to go to my favorite yoga class, that I always miss because I work. And I was going to get my hair trimmed, with my girl who only works Thursday nights. I always miss her too....because I always work Thursdays. But it felt good to help out my b/f/f and it get my foot in the door so to speak.

I base iced some cake right when I got there. It was a lot harder that Bob the master decorator makes it look. I got to play around with that for a couple hours. Then I had to do real work. All the closing stuff. I loved working in a different department, for the first time in about 4 1/2 years. Like I said, it felt great being excited to go to work. it's been a long time. Probably since the last time that Zane was are closing food side LOD. That was this summer.

Speaking of Zane.....

Carol texted him a couple weeks ago, just to see how he was doing and that she and I had been thinking about him. Not like THAT but you know what I mean. He told her that starting in December, he's going to be at Apple Valley South! He'll be close to us again. ;-) Not has close as before, but at least close enough. I told Carol that we'll have to find out when he's going to be there, so we can stop in and say Hi!

December of course means......

My birthday. 38. Yuck! I fully admit to not be looking forward to it. I know how the saying goes, 'We are only as old as we feel" And I feel at least 10 years younger if not more. I still get carded for alcohol, if it's a place that people don't know me. I get told that I look like I'm in my early 20's like ALL the time. I try to eat right, we all know I have Zumba 2 nights a week and I have a really active job. I stay thin. I'm anywhere between 113-118 all the time. I eat like all the time too. I was told that, when I got older....like right now, that I need to start watching what I eat. That all I eat is going to catch up with me. Well......it hasn't yet *knock wood* I have no plans for my birthday other than NOT working. I got in right under the wire, with asking for that Sunday off. I told my boss that I've never worked my birthday, since I started working. I know that my parents and I have a tradition of going to the Olive Garden for my birthday. I'm just not feelin' that I dea this year. I want something different. Must start thinking about that. I also need to think about what I want birthday cake to be. I want Carol to do it. I'm thinking 8 inch single layer chocolate cake, peanut butter whipped frosting.

I get my Monday-Tuesday weekend the week after Thanksgiving and then I have to go back to the 9-5:30 on Tuesday for about a month. Debbie, our sampling specialist and someone who helps us as well, is having surgey. I'm OK with that shift because it's for a good reason. Thankgiving will be at my sister Ruthann's. I work my regular shift on Black Friday. I don't have anything I need anyway, never Black Friday shop anyway and I don't have the money to spend.
