Solitaire as it applies to life:
You have a black 3 of clubs atop a pile of un-flipped cards. You don't know what's underneath that black 3 of clubs, but you'd like to know. You'd like to be able to access that pile. The only place you can put that black 3 of clubs is on top of a red 4 of hearts; however, a black 3 of spades currently occupies that position. It is in your way. It prevents you from playing the game.
Apply some thought. Look at your options. A black 2 of spades rests atop the black ace of spades above the other cards, allowing you to
remove
the black 3 of spades from your deck and discard it in the row of aces.
So that you can now place the black 3 of clubs upon the red 4 of hearts
and continue to play the game.
