Rally to Impeach Bush & Cronies this Tuesday
Tuesday May 9 Rally For Impeachment Of Bush & His Cronies 6:30pm at Marshall Park, 2nd St & S. McDowell St. Charlotte
The Carolinas Impeachment Coalition will hold a rally in uptown Marshall Park this Tuesday, May 9 at 6:30pm. The Coalition is calling for the impeachment of George Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleeza Rice and Alberto Gonzales for high crimes and misdemeanors. According to former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark, they "have committed violations and subversions of the Constitution of the United States of America in an attempt to carry out with impunity crimes against peace and humanity and war crimes and deprivations of the civil rights of the people of the United States and other nations, by assuming powers of an imperial executive unaccountable to law and usurping powers of the Congress, the Judiciary and those reserved to the people of the United States."
There will be several speakers including Attorney Ken Davies, who will layout the legal basis for impeachment, and members of Code Pink Women For Peace, who will share the origins of Mothers Day as an anti-war testament. The featured speaker will be Bill Glass, democractic candidate for Congress running against Sue Myrick. He will deliver a Mothers Day message addressed to Myrick. Glass opposes the war on Iraq, the PATRIOT ACT, and is in favor of impeaching Bush. (
http://www.billglass2006.com). Myrick is a rightwing war monger.
The Carolinas Impeachment Coalition is part of a growing nationwide grassroots movement calling for impeachment. They will be holding a number of events this spring & summer leading to a major regional rally on September 30 in Freedom Park.

Saturday May 20 National March On Washington-Hands Off Venezuela & Cuba! 10:00am at Malcolm X Park, 15th Str & Euclid NW, Washington, DC. The Bush Administration, with bipartisan support in Congress, has stepped up its hostile, interventionist policies against the governments and peoples of Cuba and Venezuela. Washington instigated and supported the April 2002 military coup in Venezuela, which was defeated after massive mobilizations of working people. The White House has expanded already onerous restrictions on the right to travel to Cuba and arrogantly assumed Washingtons right to determine Cubas social, political, and economic system. Washington and its big-business media echo chamber has spearheaded a propaganda campaign of lies and deceit against Venezuela and Cuba. US attacks on Venezuela and Cuba are the leading wedge in an attempt to counter the mounting popular struggles in Latin America and the Caribbean against USbacked social and economic policies that have devastated working people.
A broad group of national and local organizations and individuals have called for a national march on Washington to demand an end to the U.S. governments campaign of lies, threats, and sanctions against Venezuela and Cuba. For more info see
