end-of-year survey

Dec 20, 2006 14:50

I know this is kind of silly and everyone does it, but here it is:

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Worked full-time, went off to college, lived away from my parents.

2. Did you keep your new year resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think so. I'm usually smart enough not to.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, but Steve and Sharyl are about to have a kid.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
None! I will be visiting Canada in the new year, though.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
A boy/girlfriend. <---- lame. Also, a work ethic and a creative genius.

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I don't remember dates, you guys.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Um... all A's in my first semester of college, dressing as Morrissey for Halloween, watching the "November Spawned a Monster" video something like eight thousand times, making friends.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Can't think of any huge ones.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I was sick twice this last semester, which was lame, and yesterday I fell down in a parking lot and skinned and bruised both knees, but that's about the extent of it.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Probably my laptop, although I didn't actually pay for it.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Oh, God, certainly not mine. I was a whiny brat much of the time. My brother improved considerably, though. Stopped throwing tantrums and everything.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Whoever it is whose decision it was to cut Arthur out of the upcoming Mysteries of Pittsburgh movie.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Coffee, cigarettes, household items.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
College. Also, NaNoWriMo.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Anything Morrissey. Honestly, in future every time I hear Morrissey's voice I think I will be transported back to my youth.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? A little happier.
ii. Thinner or fatter? Fatter, but not by much. Maybe five pounds or so.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer. I worked all summer to build up a 'spending money for freshman year' fund, but my grandparents have been foiling that plan by sending me a hundred bucks every couple of months. I mean, I'm not complaining, but my bank account is mostly at a standstill.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I'm with Amy here: write.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Angsting.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
In Madisonville, with my parents, brother, uncle, and grandparents.

22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
A little bit.

23. How many one-night stands?
Zero. Are you kidding?

24. What was your favourite TV programme?
I enjoyed the Office. Really got into Queer as Folk. Oh, and the first part of Sopranos season six.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not particularly.

26. What was the best book you read?
Do NOT ask me to choose. Mysteries of Pittsburgh was technically a reread, but I really discovered how wonderful it is this year.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Everything Morrissey.

28. What did you want and get?
College friends.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
I really liked Little Miss Sunshine. Also My Beautiful Laundrette. That movie is totally adorable.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
On my eighteenth birthday, I received a case of Dr. M from Amy, bought a pack of clove cigarettes, and went out for coffee with Amy and Molly.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I'm happy with it so far. I mean, so far I've spent three months of it not in Madisonville, so it's been a pretty good year.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
For the first few months, jeans, t-shirt, and sneakers, as usual. I started wearing skirts and tank-tops occasionally in the summer, and in the fall have been wearing mostly jeans, boots, and t-shirts or sweaters.

34. What kept you sane?
Down-time. It's so important.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Morrissey, Stephen Colbert, Helena Bonham Carter.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I don't get stirred by political issues...

37. Who did you miss?
Noah.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Amy, Abe, Molly, and Chris. And I don't know if this counts, since I didn't exactly meet him, but Ralph G. Williams.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Sleep is reeeeeeeaaaaaaally important.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"Hand in glove, we can go wherever we please, and everything depends upon how near you stand to me."
