Things I have done since coming home: Watched the Golden Compass, watched The Truman Show, watched some ridiculous Christmas movie where Ben Affleck is rich, Stardust, Nirgendwo in Afrika, der Untergang, Wedding Crashers, part of Full Metal Jacket, Russian Ark, Schlindler's List, and various assorted television shows (are you beginning to see a trend of things my family does?) I haven't watched that much of anything in the entire last semester. Maybe even summer too. I think it's killing my energy.
Let's see, I've also had my Peace Corps ambitions shit on by my mom, which wouldn't really matter if some woman named Jodie at the D.C. office hadn't done the same as the result of a strange misunderstanding that I hope I can fix, but she may or may not effectively hate me at this point, which may or may not be enough to ruin my chances of getting an invitation. That day sucked all kinds of suck.
I like my room now, all freshly painted. Also picked out a fan/ceiling light, which my dad installed, and picked out carpet, which I won't get until February when my family has money again. I also tried to weed through my ridiculous piles of accumulated junk to get rid of the excess of my life. I got rid of a lot, but in the end my conclusion is that it's impossible, and that makes me sick. It's interesting, getting rid of all these objects with memories attached, it's at once heartbreaking and liberating.
My family went to Chicago the other day, to Marshall Fields, and the Christkindlmarkt, and such. We don't go ice skating anymore though, because my brother is too much of a macho to wear a proper winter coat and then too much of a pansy to be outside where it's cold. That is only one of many ways in which he attempted to ruin the trip... but I digress.
There's more I could say, but I'm trying to keep this at at least a minimal level of readability.
