"Vomiting"----strike 1 "My favorite subject"---strike 2 Dissing State's campus----strike 3
I won't touch the first 2 strikes as they have been harped upon in depth but I do need to kick your @$$ on the third.....at least in part.
I've been to U of M three times for football games (with free tickets too because I have a hooked up friend with Wolverine High's coaching staff.....like I am going to pay to see the Wolverweenies play?!?!) and U of M has alot older, Ivy League look to it with their arcitecture. State's architecture is much more "generic" as they had a huge expansion following WWII when they were known as MSC and alot of their buildings were built at once. So alot of their buildings and dorm complexes like Brody (the Brojects......LMAO! that is a hoot!), South and those towers on the East side all have that plain label, anteseptic look to them. Alot of their non dorm buildings particularly on the South side look similar too. So I'll give U of M the advantage for architecture since most of State's buildings outside of those that border Grand River Ave have the same look to them.
But I think for scenery State has it over U of M as it is more spread out and has a much more rural feel to it partcularly along the Red Cedar. I prefer State's overall look as it is a great mixture of city and country to it. U of M seemed much more hemmed in than State.
I guess I prefered State as the Northeast has alot more schools that are older and look like U of M. And then we have those boring string of SUNY schools we have all look the same. This state does not have huge centralized State Universities like U of M or State so those of us from here find those schools a big deal.
My one brother who was on State's football traveling squad saw all the campuses of the Big 10 and only rated Wisconsin's as more beautiful than States. But another brother who went to Clemson though U of M's was nicer than MSU's. What a dork the latter is! j/k
The one thing I will say for State is that Monica will miss out on the big college experience which is something that I think is irreplaceable. I know our college experiences were vastly different but I think you are experiencing that more now than in your first two years. This sounds dumb, but the one thing I really wish I could magicly change for you was the times you had your first two years at U of M. I've always felt badly for you about that.
Oh, how EPIC you are getting along with your future overseas study classmates!! THAT has to be a major relief for you and something that will very much lessen the stress you will have when you go to France! Hopefully, you will have that really positive college experience there next year. I have a feeling that you will.

Yes, I'll give you that - your river is way better than ours. That's actually the first thing I picture when I think of State - the Red Cedar in the fall. Gorgeous.
And the thing I felt about State when I visited (the second time, after I'd already started at UM), was that it was too spread out. It seemed like you needed to drive or take a bus everywhere, rather than just walking ten minutes down the street to get something to eat. Maybe it's not really that way, but that's what it seemed like.
Part of me wishes I'd had two awesome first years (as in no freakish depression/anxiety, and a lot more like this year), but the other part of me knows how much the two bad years really helped me find myself. I might not totally know *me*, but I learned so much about myself that I don't really regret having gone through them. Yeah, they were bad and will always be a bad memory for me, but at the same time, I like me. I like who I am and who I'm turning out to be...so I don't regret those years.
Yeah, so that was the longest nothing-reply ever. My bad.
ps- I'm so excited about France. It's ridiculous.
pps- Monica said today that Kettering was winning over State because "there are only two cons for Kettering". It's hard to keep my mouth shut, lol.

I just wanted to respond so you didn't think I was ignoring you...I haven't had a chance to ask her what the second con was.
