Because I'm socially inept, I have a very important question to ask.
If you had received very serious bad news over the weekend, and then you told someone (say, me) about it today, would it be inappropriate for that someone [me] to bring you homemade cookies and a card on Wednesday?
Even if you might not consider that someone [me] a really close friend?
