traffic lights are so romantic
they really are. maybe romantic isn't the right word, but. i don't know, it's like someone's choreographed the movement of the cars, so when i'm sitting at a stop light it's like i'm watching this intricate dance, and the dancers are cars. i considered writing a poem about it, but then i realized that there's this whole issue of me having no time and that generally means i can't afford the time to do fun things like writing poems. and also that it would probably turn out to be lame anyways, so. but yeah, the thought struck me the other day when i was driving with my friend, and i told him, and he mocked me. so. and then i found five dollars?
i just started betaing a new fic. it's original fiction and it looks really interesting so i'm pretty excited. hmm, what else is new? i finished a musical, so now i'm in that weird limbo state where you're like, whoo! i now have all this free time! but i really don't because it's like end a musical, start a research paper, clearly the universe hates you.
i got my first taste of sufjan stevens about a week ago, which ended in me downloading three new albums (illinois, michigan, seven swans) and totally obsessing. seven swans, the song, is kind of the greatest thing ever. the whole song is great, but after you get past the halfway point i think that it's absolutely devastating. the lyrics are: he will take you / if you run, he will chase you / 'cause he is the Lord / (seven swans)
it's the kind of music that fills my chest up, if you know what i mean. where you hear it, and you just go, oh. i'm trying to think of other songs that do that to me... "falling" by florence + the machine, right at the end of the song..."the greatest," by cat power, "skinny love" by bon iver. songs that are just so lovely it hurts.
i've been trying to fix up my delicious so it's organized. there're just so many bookmarks, and a lot of them are useless to me (and thus probably to you) because they're not tagged very well. and i just need to straight up delete some, because they're fics i'll never read but that i tagged for reading once upon a time. hopefully by summer at the latest everything will be fixed up and wonderful.
