okay, seriously, you guys? i have read so much inception fic in the past week or two that i don't even know which ones to rec to you. you can always refer to my delicious when in doubt, or if you need more (which i always do). in fact, i'm pulling these directly from my delicious. but, yeah, recs:

this is like the coolest thing ever, seriously. the writing style makes my heart go pitter-pat, and just wait until you get to the end. plus, it's a completely different take to inception. you know, the one where mal woke up and cobb is still dreaming? the one that everyone's theorized about but not actually written fic for? until now, at least. and what a fic it is.

Dreams Don't Float (You'll Have to Build Yourself a Bridge) by noname_fan ; arthur/eames
this is tagged on my delicious as my ouch-my-heart. because it is one of those fics that makes your heart ache. but in the best way possible, because it is just so goooood. i'll give you the original snippet:
Arthur’s known since he was 5 (when he builds his sand city too close to the ocean and it gets washed away before he can finish adding little windows to the skyscrapers) (actually, no, he’s probably known earlier, like from the womb) that he hates mistakes. Mistakes he makes, like the sand city thing; mistakes his nanny used to make, like when she would forget to warm his milk before bedtime; mistakes like Nash. Big mistakes, little mistakes, etc, etc, they’re all so very avoidable, if you think everything through well enough. This is the worst thing about mistakes, Arthur used to think.
But then one day he wakes up in an expensive, tacky hotel room in Kuala Lumpur with a stabbing headache, a lovely ache in all his muscles and a note (a fucking Post-it note) on the headboard above where Eames’ head should be, and Arthur realizes that the worst thing about mistakes is when you are one.
